If you had looked carefully, you would have noticed the highlighted part. Just remove it or you could remove the whole thing if you don't care about the voting.

Don't be afraid to try yourself. Make a backup copy of the file and try it. In case of mistakes, just upload the backup file, you are back to square one. Good luck.

I am not looking to ban or for ways to ban Google, just information or confirmation on the new log entries. I don’t want spambots pretending to be Google to crawl my sites.

It is not difficult to ban Google or any other bots. But in general for most people, it would be foolish or suicidal to ban Google, unless you have an Intranet or a top-secret site to protect.

Check out:

Bot Trap

And maybe:

Bad Bot page

Thank you for your suggestion. Sorry I am just looking for confirmation if anyone has seen similar bots and has info on them.

BTW, unless you don't want Google to crawl your site, you can not stop people with (spoof) Google IPs from crawling your site.

Has anyone noticed new entries in their logs with the following user agent?

Mozilla/5.0 (compatible; Googlebot/2.1; +http://www.google.com/bot.html)

The usual user agent for Google is
Googlebot/2.1 (+http://www.google.com/bot.html)

Google usually sends several crawlers to a site and does not crawl a site continuously. The new one usually would come from a single crawler/IP and behave like a spambot by crawling continuously.

It is very suspicious. Anyone has similar experience?

If you looked carefully, you would find that styleMAC.css, styleNN.css are essentially importing from style.css. Changes to style.css will be applied to both MAC and Mozilla-style browsers, unless you overwrite them specifically in MAC or NN stylesheet.

Xoops default styleMAC.css:
Quote:

@import url(style.css);
/* Very short Mac-specific additions/changes here (if
any) */
here you can define MAC-specific style to ovewrite the style defined in style.css

Hope this helps.

getcwd() (get working directory pathname) will tell you the absolute path to specify. XOOPS seems not be able to proceed without the path.

You would need to check with your host inquiring why they had disabled it.

oops, sorry about that

Is there a XOOPS Canada support?
Or the xoops.org will be supporting the North America?

Don't take it the wrong way. XOOPS Canada support in French is explainable, but why on earth do you want a XOOPS Canada support site while the biggest English support site, xoops.org, is here?
