Re: Political Party Website - Help needed to theme better

A couple of things to note...

The UNC banner at the top is waaay too wide. I'm running at pretty darn high resolution and it still makes my browser scroll horizontally. Even though a lot of the newer computers are running at 1024 pixels wide, remember that a lot of people are still going to be at 800 px wide. Same goes for the photo in the center of your page. I'd take the size down considerably.

Having said that, I think it's a good start, especially if you're a first-timer. Getting donations and such are probably going to be best through PayPal or a system like that.

I've done some political websites that you might want to look at. A good one is at www.SanilacDems.com (they hardly if ever update the darn thing, but it's a nice site nonetheless).

Re: ready for all criticism ;)

Banner is still too wide.

I've also noticed that it's hard to read the text in the left and right columns. The colour contrast isn't very high.

Other than that, I really like it. Quite nice!

What kind of webserver are you running?

Also note that two threads with the exact same topic will only add to confusion - especially when searching...

I've solved the problem.

The double post was a glitch. When I hit SUBMIT it tried to load the page and came up with a "the thread you have attempted to read does not exist" error, so I entered it again and hit submit, and when I went to the home page, it was listed twice.

Re: Annoying CSS issue

A-HA!!!

I got it!

There were a couple of stray <font> tags floating around in the theme file that were screwing things up. (Also some somewhat random text that I have no idea how it got there...)

Thanks for the responses, everybody!

hey ace_armstrong,

had a look at your css and you have different font sizes, from: 12px, 10 px, small, and 90% from what i seen at a quick glance. you may choose to make these uniform; i always use px so it makes it simple.

i am not a fan of msie by no means, but i have not had problems with ie 6.

You looked at the wrong site. It's not GLOAMING that I'm having the issue on. (But, yeah, I know those are a little sloppy...that was the first site we ever did with XOOPS.)

The site I am working on (www.TwilightMD.com/content/) is using all px for the font size.

Annoying CSS issue

I'm working on a redesign of our company website (trying to keep it real simple and basic looking), and I've run into a little glitch in the CSS. For some reason it works just fine on IE, but in Mozilla the font faces and size sometimes display incorrectly. The bizarre part is that you can load the page and everything will be fine. then you can hit the refresh button and the menu headers and some of the block headlines change (which they are not supposed to do). Hit refresh again and the menu headers and half of the block headers go back to normal, but half the block headers stay small. Hit it again and the menu headers go small but all of the block headers are fine. Hit it again and everything will be right again.

Has anyone ever seen this, or have an idea as to why it's acting so oddly?

Re: My Quiz and Xoops 2.06

I would do so with a slight note of caution...there is a known security flaw with this module. I'm pretty content to use it because I'm limiting access to a pretty limited group of known users, but I don't think I'd want to give any more broad access to the public at large.

Re: Newbb Pro (attachments, mark read ...)

Sounds faboo!

I'm wondering if it would be a lot of trouble to hack this so that it can actually run side-by-side with the existing NewBB module. (I'd like to give it a test run before moving over...plus I'd like to have a little security that if I do an upgrade to the core it won't break the BBS.)
