Your extra add-on "Any unlawful activities will be reported to law enforcement. XOOPS.org and its agents will cooperate fully with any law enforcement agency." May take away from the initial intent, actually involving them in legal action.

Here is my response. I would like someone from the legal department to have a look at my add on statement.

My intent is to protect the moderators & administrators from possible criminal prosecution. In some parts of the world, it is just as illegal to not report criminal activities as it is to commit the crime. I am not talking about peer to peer file sharing, that's a civil situation, I am talking about drug trafficking, murder, terrorist activities, and other activities that are considered a crime.

Please if anyone on the legal department want to have a look, do so.

Thank you for your response, It must have been just a misunderstanding.

At this point, I would welcome anybody wanting to join. I may start another thread a bit later asking for help.

Let's consider this little issue resolved and drive. we have to get a new version XOOPS out on the street. That is not going to happen on it's own.

The report stands without any major corrections.

Now would someone please close this thread

Where are you going?

This thread is to discuss if some of the rules here need to be changed.

Somehow we went from that to catz being a community leader.

As far as I am concern the leaders are in place. If you want to talk about new leaders go elsewhere.

But here, right here, we talking about what is expected from a user when they post a message, and what will happen if they fail to comply.

We now return you to your regularly scheduled program, already in progress.

@JAVesey - From what I have gather in the threads here, the module teams are splitting up into core modules and what ever is on Xoopsinfo. We need to find out what modules are going to be supported by who, where.

If they are not cooperating let us know by weeks' end get back to us and we will come up with our own plan for dealing with module issues.

Let's get this in the open. No more PM or e-mail or chat it will be resolved right here, right now. I do not want this to become a distraction to the work that needs to get done.

I am fine with this, in fact I have referred the entire matter to the project council via phppp.

In the very same post gtop00 says:

My post did not have the intention to assault you or anybody else.

then finish the post with an open advertisement for my replacement....

Quote:

Let’s start again: Is anybody else out there who has the time, the will, the qualification and feels that can take an active and responsible role?

on my first 'official' day on the job. Based on one sole factor. If that is not an insult, what is?

As in the report here are facts as I see them.
I, KC0MAZ, am the team leader of the community coordination team.

The team as a whole is moving forward. Unless directed by the project council we are not going back. That thread has been locked.

I have some questions for gtop00 and gtop00 only.
1. Do you want me replaced?
2. Do you want a Project Council Review of my leadership?
3. If yes, based on what criteria?

Now if you will excuse me. There some items that I must attend to.

Propose the following change to the terms of use:
Quote:

2.NO UNLAWFUL OR PROHBIITED USE

By using the XOOPS Sites, you warrant to XOOPS that you will not use the XOOPS Sites, or any of the content obtained from the XOOPS Sites, for any purpose that is unlawful or prohibited by these Terms. If you violate any of these Terms, your permission to use the XOOPS Sites automatically terminates.

monthly meetings has not been decided yet. Mainly due to the time difference. We may have to fall back on using a forum for the meetings. I was going to work on that after the 4th.

I am partial to the Xi ticket system. However I want to have a closer look at it.
@Sailjapan - since you already are working the documentation team on that want to have a gander at their system and see if it will work for us.

thanks,

I think there not much sites with info about everything, for example hiking.
I like too make it so that peoplle can find routes places too see what do do preperation clothing tents the whole nine yards.
And so on.

Vincent,

That is a mighty tall order to fill.
Europe is extremely rich in history and culture, and to have all on one site, wow!

Having backpacked through Europe, I can tell you it would have been nice to have a single resource to go to for where to go and what to do, in my language. Because some of the best places I visited where by mistake (I got lost) having a place to write about the adventure or mis-adventure and let others know of the 'treasure' I found would be even better.

Back to the basics-
I assume you are trying to reach the twenty-something crowd and the late baby boomers. Some have $$$ some don't. If these people are 'on-the-road' you want the site as simple as you can make it. keep the opening graphics to a minimum, some folks may be on a slow dial up connection. Of course the three click rule applies (if they can't find it in three clicks of the mouse, they're gone to another site)

For modules
An open blog: let people record their trip as they take it
An image gallery: so people can upload their pictures
A forum module
A weather module: nothing can ruin a camping trip like rain, This one might be tough, If I am in London, I could care less about the weather in Istanbul, unless I am going there.
A news module: with information relating to traveling
Maybe a sign-up or event module if you are going to be putting together tours, or side trips.
And an event calender to list what is happening where.
If you can get some sponsors maybe an partner module.
don't for get the links area.

this should give a good start
Of course as your site grows you may need to add some more.

As far as the current site, there seems to be a picture missing from the top center, it is label 'Netherlands' other than that you are off to a great start.

Make sure you check your forums & the blogs daily, your visitors will tell you if something is not right.

May the luck of the Irish be with you.
Happy trails.

Having the reports themselves will not hurt Xoops, Have the reports with no response will

If somebody is "flaming" or "offending" on the forums, let the community respond in kind and offer a solid defense of the system or person in question. If they have a legitimate point that "XOOPS", "developer A" or "moderator B" has done something wrong then let it stand and chalk it up to experience. People may think twice before something good, but, they'll certainly rethink posting their whining if they feel like they'll get a proper dress down on these forums.

Mob rule? an interesting idea,
if everyone cared what other people thought.
however, some don't.

Quote:

Everyone will be held to a higher standard by the community response and trust me it will be a much more informative (and entertaining)site. Much of this whining and complaining lingers around here because nobody gets shot down in flames in a public forum like they should. Let it be aired and it will solve itself. We all know who the idiots are and we know who can let their work and reputations stand on their own.

[marketing cap] What kind of image do we want XOOPS to portray? The moderators as well as the site designers will have to build and maintain this image.[/marketing cap]

I have resisted the urge to say this, because I know some will be offended.

It is time we start thinking more as a business. [Human Resources cap] Other business are made up of more than just one type of person, they have designers, customer service people, marketing people, and managers. Businesses invest in getting the very best people they can to work for them and get those people to work as a team. Those that cause problems within the team, are dismissed, before they can do much damage to the image of the business.

The XOOPS project doesn't offer money in return for service, or at least I don't think anyone is getting paid. We do offer experience, and some resume padding. Think of adding this to your resume next time you are applying a job.
Quote:

Project manager for XOOPS CMS

the person on the other side of the desk is going to ask, and research and find out what kind of project is Xoops. What do you want them to see?

Right now, we need to get the right people with right knowledge, skills and abilities in the right positions[/Human Resources cap][marketing cap]and build the image of the XOOPS Project in to one of respect. [/marketing cap]

There is more to my little rant, however this is not the place nor the time.
