Bassman,

Since you are trying to create a simple fixed width theme, you will have to "hardcode" the width of each table. In simple words, you will have to define the exact width of every table inside your markup.

If you have done so and that one is the only page which gives you trouble, search for the respective template and see if there is any style rule attached there. For example, if the template reads something like:

<table class="foo" style="width: 100%">...

then remove the style property.

The problem you described above occurs when you define a width property and value inside your CSS. When you do so, the respective table "tends" to expand all the way to the edges of the screen.

Unfortunately, hardcoding the width values inside your theme.html is the only way to avoid this "issue".

Let me know how it went

It would probably be useless to repeat that this has never happened to my site before and please note that they are being hosted on a shared server

In fact, I have spent the last 10 minutes clearing my browser's cache and cookies, re-logging into the site and doing fn + F5 (on my Mac), but nothing happened. If someone was watching me, he would think that I had gone completely bonkers

In any event, couldn't that particular issue be caused by a server misconfiguration?

I really don't believe that it's XOOPS's "fault"

I would really like to help more, but I really don't have a clue regarding this issue

Very nice site However, I will completely agree with shivanji on all of his points and I would also add that you could perhaps enlarge the font size over at the 'Read More' entries etc. Other than that, I really like the site

Hello dk,

Provided that you didn't change anything else, you should be able to login by pointing your browser directly to the login page, that is:

http://127.0.0.1/user.php

for example...

That is of course the case if you haven't tampered or played with anything else

I have never seen this happen myself, nor have I ever seen anyone else reporting such a problem.

This doesn't mean of course that you are not experiencing a problem of that nature, but I highly doubt that it has anything to do with the XOOPS core files.

If I were you, I would try re-producing the same 'behavior' on another server, configuration and so forth.

No, no, no! That is not what I meant or even implied! On the contrary, I said that it is up to the author to decide on the licensing scheme, so that people will not steal his work or anything related.

He may very well restrict it and basically do anything he likes with it.

That is definitely not true. An item is implicitly copyrighted by its creator, whether or not he states so.

My friend, there is no such thing in the real world and that wouldn't stand in any court, in any country. There is no such thing as 'implicitly copyrighting' something. When releasing something one must choose a license under which to release it, whether that is the GPL and so on. What does implicitly mean?

In the World Wide Web and on the Internet, not releasing your work under a specific license makes it immediately public domain.

But, I think that the author should be contacted to release it under a certain license.

If it is not released under ANY license whatsoever, then it is PUBLIC DOMAIN. That means that anyone can take it, modify it and use it without asking for permission of any kind and/or contacting the author, or in this case creator.

Why not release the mascot under the GNU General Public License? Why not release it under an Open Source, Artistic or Creative Commons one?

It is really pointless to warn people from getting it, simply beacuse it has not been copyrighted in any way or form. So, until the author actually decides to release it under a license, it IS Public Domain and you can steal it if you like as well.

Certainly, that needs to be fixed in one way or another, but why use it anyway?

I believe that there is a PHPBB2 module for XOOPS somewhere, but I have forgotten the link. I am not sure if it is possible to actually transfer the database. I don't think it is, but someone may of course tell us otherwise

You may also try searching in the forums. I think that this question has been answered before. Not sure though.
