Did you install the Frameworks folder as well? It has to be present unless you work under XOOPS 2.2. In the Frameworks folder you can find a file called local.php which contains that class.

Concerning the module repository: Yes, that's a big problem. A lot of modules are outdated.

Hi Metropolis,

thanks for your advice. I did this and Wordpress works.

Hi,

I have recently added xComic v2 to my site. Great module.

I have a few modules, Headlines, xcGallery, Chess, as well.
I would like a comic strip to appear on All Pages, however, it is to remain at the bottom of the page. I seem to be able to place it on All Pages but it is always at the top of the page.

Any pointers would be appreciated.

Security concerns with uploading files and images

Hello,

I recently added the xcGallery and myAlbum-P modules to my XOOPS installation.

I notice that the image upload directories need to be world writeable, i.e. 777. This seems very insecure.

Why is this very open permission set required?
Is there a way around it?

A little while ago I installed a small php/mysql image gallery taken from a PC magazine tutorial (not an XOOPS module) that did not require such open permissions on the upload directory, rather teh ability to uplaod was limited by other security features in the software. Perhaps the uploads were performed by the daemon (I may be wrong, though), which meant that the directory access could be limited.

Any thoughts and assistance woudl be welcome.

kind regards,
DJDrD

Why do you install such an old version?

The current version is 2.04, which you can download from www.xoopsforge.com

thanks for your reply, metropolis.
I visited www.xoopsforge.com and although wordpress 2.04 was listed the only file I could download was version 2.03, which I downloaded.

when I attempted to install Wordpress 2.03 I received the error:
---
Array
Fatal error: Undefined class name 'xoopslocal' in /home/adrianwo/public_html/mylife/modules/wordpress/include/xoops-wp.php on line 107
---

any ideas?

any assistance i swelcome.

kind regards,

Thanks for the pointer to the newer version. I will give it a go.

why did I install the old version? only because that was the version listed on the XOOPS module repository.

Thanks, tcnet.

I will investigate the Groups admin options. From what you have said it seems that most of my problems will be solved through its use.

thanks, also, for the link to XOOPS for Dummies.

hello,

I have atried to install teh module:
XPress (WordPress for XOOPS) 1.5.2

When I click "Install, rather than seeing the results from the installation script all I see is the word "Array" at the top of the page.

Any ideas why this might be happening?

Kind regards,

Hello,

I am a new user- just coming to grips witht he XOOPS way.
I have a couple of questions about the block administration that you may be able to answer. I have performed a search and found little that answers my questions, although it may bge that I am not asking the right questions... anyway, here goes...

1. I can see that I can choose the blocks that are visible for different groups (webmasters, regsitered and anonymous users). When I choose Anonymous Users the list changes- good. But, if I choose to make a block visible for an Anonymous user, say on the Right hand side, the block becomes visible for all Groups on the right hand side. I cannot seem to force a different positio or list of modules for different groups. Any ideas?

2. The main menu block is selected for all users. However, only registered users (well, i have only logged in as 'admin' but assume all registered users) seem to see a list of all of my modules. The Registered users get:
Main Menu
Home
Headlines
My Album

wheeras, anonymous users only get:
Main Menu
Home

I cannot seem to find what admin screen controls that functionality. I would liek anonymous users to see headlines and MyAlbum.

3. I have the Headlines module installed.
I woudl like all groups to see that module, webmasters, registered users and Anonymous Users. In Block Administration, the Block 'Headlines' is only listed for only Registered users and Webmasters, whereas it is not seen when i choose Anonymous Users. Why is this?

4. Last question. :)
Using 'HEadlines' as an example.
In Block Administration, I can choose to display headlines on teh Right hand side. If I edit the Headlines block itself, teh position is given as left hand side.
(a) Which takes precedence?
(b) Woudl I need to create/copy teh Headlines module if I wish to show headlines on the top Page on the Left Hend Side
but on another page move it to the right hand side?

Thanks for any assistance.
