Re: Database Connection problem...

One more tidbit here...

I had been advised to move to PHP4.4.X and not to use MySQL 5.X, and instead use MySQL 4.1.

I just noticed in the PHP.ini file there is no MySQL extension option, only the msql and mssql extensions.

There also does not appear to be a MySQL extension dll in extensions folder.

I suspect this might have something to do with it...

Does this help??

Re: Database Connection problem...

Here's the error:

check database
Could not connect to the database server.

Please check the database server and its configuration.

Database Connection problem...

Hi All...

I'm running Win XP Pro, Apache 2.0.55, PHP 4.4.2, and Msql 4.1.

When I attempt to install Xoops, everything runs fine until the database Connection check, runs, and fails.
I've triple checked the root/username are correct (I can connect with MySql administrator), and the presence/name of the XOOPS Schema. I've rebooted as well.

Any other ideas here?

Thanks soo much in advance!!!

Re: Failed Writing Constant errors...

Thanks Rowdie, I'll try this later today..
One last question..
Should I not be using 2.0.13.x?

I had been using 2.2.4, and was having a hard time with unexpected behavior with some modules. The download section does not recommend 2.2.X for production use.

Is this still the way I should go?

Thanks again,

Steve

Failed Writing Constant errors...

Hi All..

I've decided to scrap my 2.2.4 test site and revert back to 2.0.13.2 for various reasons. I'm running XP pro, Apache 2.0.55, PHP 5.1.2, and MySQL 5.0.

I am able to get to the Xoops/Index.php page and begin the installation.

the "Checking File and Directory Permissions.." passes without error, however, the "Saving Configuration data..." section reports the following:

File ../mainfile.php overwritten by ../mainfile.dist.php
Failed writing constant C:/Program Files/Apache Group/Apache2/htdocs/xoops.
Failed writing constant mysql.
Failed writing constant localhost.
Failed writing constant kb2hgb.
Failed writing constant 0.
Failed writing constant 2.
Failed writing constant 1.

Configuration data has been saved successfully to mainfile.php

Any ideas?
Any help would be greatly appreciated, I'm sure I'm doing something stupid... :)

Re: Cannot display anything in custom block

Thanks Quest!

Yes, it is selected.

Remember, I am able to see the block with the correct block title, just not the content I put in the block (plain text, HTML, Etc.. Nothing displays).

A friend of mine is running 2.2.3, and I tried this with his site. It works perfectly, and somewhat validates the manner in which I am doing this.

Could this be an issue with 2.2.4?

Steve

Re: Cannot display anything in custom block

Thanks for the reply dizzymarkus!

I just confirmed that the Webmaster has rights to access all blocks and also checked Block Administration to make sure it it was visable and assigned to Webmaster, Etc.

Still no-go.

I also have BlocksAdmin installed. When I select Custom Blocks from the BlocksAdmin Administration, I see the "Anon"/"Registered"/"Webmaster" groups on the left, with "None", "All", "Cancel", and "Submit" to the right and below the groups. There are no custom blocks listed.

Does this help? Any other Ideas?

Cannot display anything in custom block

Hi All..

I'm a bit new with Xoops, so bear with me here..

I've recently tried to add a custom block to my XOOPS v 2.2.4 site running PHP5 on WinXPsp2.

While I can select where the custom block appears (left, center, Etc.), nothing I type in the block is displayed. I've tried plain text, HTML, Everything. I can change the title, but thats it..

Can anyone give me an idea on what this might be?
Thanks in advance!

Steve
