Ok good call, I'd rather deal with a less secure XOOPS right now than a buggy XOOPS that can die on me. I'd just rather take my chances with getting hacked. 2.2.2 sounds like a good deal. I have to finish a project pretty soon now and its very important that I pick the most benifical version.

For right now I just basically need a forum, news or some kind of archive system, do regular block articles archive themselves?..., I havent been that far to know that, picture gallery, and a calender of events. This would be fine for a core beggining of the website. I'm in a bad spot. I need the best advice on which version to use that'll be the most supported yet functional. Thanks

I am planning to use XOOPS for a magazines website. I've been testing and playing with XOOPS on my own domain and was about ready to go full throttle with 2.2.3 to create the site for my client. I've already set back and 2.2.3 going RS has delt a real blow to me. I really hope you guys nail the next release but since I don't know when that'll be what should I do? Is there a release that is stable enough and with enough supported modules that will be upgradeable until the next release of XOOPS is out?

In other words, what version would be the best for a production site till the new release is out, and will it be upgradeable?

Sorry about all the problems guys. I know you'll nail it next time.

Thank you very much. I guess 2.2.3 modules won't be fully supported yet. I'm making a serious website that alot of people are going to use and see so I got to know what works. Would you suggest to keep on using News 1.4 and wait for a fix? And I guess I'm going to change the forum to CBB 2. Thanks.

1. Which forum does xoops.org use?

2. Is anyone using the News 1.4 module with 2.2.3? It seems to work for me except for one thing. When I go to the Topics Manager the names for the topics are:

1. nl2br
2. nl2br

I know this file name has come out with the Admin Login problem when upgrading from 2.2.2>>>>2.2.3 so I don't know if it's a bug or what. Anyone know what's going on here?

Nevermind I've figured out how to intall XOOPS manually. You should try it it's easy if you have cPanel.

Whenever I go into my ADMIN AREA on my new XOOPS installation I get a warning...
----------------------------------------------------------
WARNING: File /home/myusername/public_html/mainfile.php is writeable by the server.
Please change the permission of this file for security reasons.
in Unix (444), in Win32 (read-only)
----------------------------------------------------------

It's current CHMOD is 644 and when I try to change it through my ftp program it just won't change. I've do it over and over and it just doesn't want to change. Can anyone help me here?

I've installed XOOPS 2.0.13 using Fantastico and I'd like to know how to upgrade also. I would really really like to use XOOPS for a website I'm making for someone but there are some factors that are making me very sceptical about.

1. Continual upgrading and the possibility of not being able to stay current without losing the progress made with an older version.

2. That pretty much it.
