adrock - you are the man this is exactly what I wanted to do. I found my %%33827398472390472%%theme.html.php file and this is the page to edit. I want to hard code the welcome message underneath the company logo because I already did some work on this page and do not want to edit it from the backend. I see there are other $this->_tpl_vars[] variables being printed out and I already did a print_r($this->_tpl_vars) to see all variables but I cannot find the uname key. I even tried your code but it just prints that to screen and does not replace it with the username. Any help? Thanks so much!

I installed the WFT or WTF thing, thank you for the tip. The next ? I have is do you know what vars I have to use on the main page; i.e. I want to put a "Welcome, $this->_tpl_vars['username']" in the white box above the Login after an user logs in. Thanks again.

How do I hide the main menu module until the user logs in, and then also show some text links in the top box under your company logo (next to HOME) Thanks again.

This is a fairly simple question, but in XOOPS you can never be sure that the answer will be simple. $500 to whoever can tell me how to create a new page that will be displayed in the center area and an extra $250 if you can tell me how to only allow certain users to this page. Thanks!

Now the next part is this is how does one add links on different pages. For example, I want to make each one of the department pages locked down so that only members of certain custom groups can gain access (engineering can only view /Departments/Engineering for ex) I am sure that there is something whether it be backend or , gasps, hardcoding that I can do. Thank you for your time.
