Hi guys,

www.horseshowsrus.ca was finally hacked. The first time I found the XSS refresh tags in the xoops_config table. I removed them and installed protector. I got hacked again.

Before I waste my time, what should I do? I am running 2.0.13.

Thanks,
Deb

Thanks for that - I got my custom block working just hunky-dory. I still can't get my chat forum to show up for anonymous users though, so I guess I will need to upgrade newbb.

I'll be so glad when all this upgrade/downgrade is over with - I started with XOOPS 2.2.3 but a bunch of things did not work. My site feels a lot more stable now and I've been able to add some nifty modules that I was scared to add in 2.2.3.

No I didn't fix it already, that's just what the page should look like ("Something for everyone..."). I put that HTML in a custom block, but the custom block won't show up for anonymous users only, it also shows up for registered users. I want the "Something for everyone" page to show up until you login.

I dunno, I can't seem to get newbb to show up for anonymous users. It is newbb 2.02.

Help!

Thanks,
Deb

can't get newbb to show up for anonymous users

Hi there,

I downgraded to XOOPS 2.0.13, and reinstalled everything. I somehow can't get the forums to show up for users who aren't logged in:

http://www.horseshowsrus.ca/showez/modules/newbb/

I checked the groups and the blocks of newbb and everything looks like it's set ok.

Also, I was trying to display this HTML page for users who haven't logged in yet:

http://www.horseshowsrus.ca/showez/modules/horsey/index.php

What I did was I created a custom block with the HTML only, and set up the perms for anonymous users. I could not get it to show up for anonymous users on the top page. When it did show up, it showed up for logged in users, which I didn't want.

Help.

Thanks,
Deb

Ok, I tried that yesterday, and the script did run without any errors.

However, when I went to my site, I had all kinds of errors. I had to restore the files & database again.

This is unfortunately a production site. If I knew how to quickly fix the errors that resulted I would try again.

What I then did was I installed XOOPS 2.0 in a different location, and 1 by 1 I am reinstalling modules and importing the database tables from my prod site. At least this gives me a way to do it without making a mess out of my production site, but then I am going to have my site in a different location, which isn't ideal either. Plus I would have to map the users tables. XOOPS 2.0 does feel a lot more stable, robust and faster. I've even noticed some things on the admin side that didn't work at all in 2.2.3.

Any suggestions? How difficult is it to fix the downgraded XOOPS 2.2.3 site after the script has been run on it?

Thanks,
Deb

I guess I should have RTFM'd, but even so, where do I put the 2.0 files? Do I untar the whole thing?

Thanks,
Deb

Hi there,

I just tried running the 2.2.3 downgrade script and it failed miserably. Luckily I backed up my database and files and was able to restore everything within about 5-10 mins.

But - is there a script that works?

Thanks,
Deb

Hi guys,

I am using PHP 4.3.10 and MySQL 4.0.25-standard. I have XOOPS 2.2.3 installed.

I can't seem to get the system waiting contents to show up. Has anyone run into this before?

msdana - you're not missing anything - I don't want people to be able to choose webmaster or anonymous. And thanks Dave - I just haven't had time to look at the code yet. I will when I get a chance. Or maybe I'll just do away with the group-picking altogether... I just didn't want riders to get bogged down with the show organizer's blocks, but I guess they can just ignore the extra stuff.

Oh well. My site is launching in just over a week.

It seems kind of ridiculous that the new version of XOOPS would let people register to your site as a webmaster or an anonymous user anyway. I can't be editing each new user's group setting manually, otherwise why use extended profiles at all?
