Re: How i can use xoops as intranet system ?

I have installed it and it works until I try to upload a file - again a permissions issue on a Win2k3 box. I have not had time to go back and fix the permissions issue for the directory it tries to upload to.

I am currently using XOOPS as an intranet for very large company on a windows environment. I am not a strong PHP programmer, but very stron ASP programmer so I mix the 2 using the CJ Content Module and Custom Blocks.

I especially like the xHelp Module - Ticket System

I also like the eCal Module. I have our HR Time Off Requests writing to that Calendar.

Anyway - no worries, only small things - mostly due to inexperience with PHP.

Re: Two problems with eCal

Sounds like a directory permissions issue

Re: Bypassing the Login

Not really stuck - I have the ASP workaround in place and working seamless with XOOPS.

I will continue to work on the issue with the php.

On the Win2k3 box if you want to require the passing of the NT Username you have to disable the anonymous access for the page you intend to retrieve the NT USername for.
Once you do this the NT Username will pass using server variables.

In order to do this for those who are unfamiliar with Win2k3 and IIS 6.0
Open you computer management console - expand the Information Services tree menu -select your website - then select the directory - then the actual php, or asp page you want - right click and select properties - select the authentication and access control - uncheck the Enable anonymous access option - click OK - then click APPLY and you are done.

I hope this helps

Re: Bypassing the Login

I have determined it is not retrieving the NT Username from the server variables. I have edited the security settings on the server so that the information will pass. In ASP no problem, I am finding PHP is a little more finicky.

Re: Bypassing the Login

That actually did not produce any errors - however it did not pass along any login information.

Re: Hot or Not Module

I would like to take it over - but -
I am an ASP programmer - new to PHP and there is going to be a learning curve.

I am willing to try.

Re:Is XOOPS used for business applications?

I have to admit - I have been an ASP programmer for years, never delving into the PHP thing - I felt it was the kid's way to go. I have just started using XOOPS for a major retailers intranet, I am a changed man at the ease of installation and maintenance. I now am striving to get my hands around PHP so that I can write modules for XOOPS.

XOOPS works really well for this situation. There is an add on module that was built DMS (Document Repository)

http://dev.xoops.org/modules/xfmod/project/showfiles.php?group_id=1149

This is great for document management and policy/procedure documents.

I have had soem bumps, I am in the process of bypassing the built in login to read usernames from the NT login so they don't have to bother with loggin in. I currently have it validating via NT Username whether the person is with our department if not it defaults them to the register page and so far is working well.

Anyway - XOOPS is an answer to business intranet solutions
