I was able to fix this problem by re upgrading the 2.10, 2.12 and 2.13 upgrades. This seemed to fix the problem. Thanks for your suggestion.

2.0..1.3 Blocks Problems

Since upgrading to 2.0.1.3 I am unable to update any Blocks. Whatever changes I make in edit mode are not recognized and the block reverts back to its original content. I can't produce new blocks either. Although everything appears to work ok the blocks are not functioning.

Any Ideas?

I had this problem as well. Couldn't figure it out for a couple of days. Then I notice at the bottom of the page when editing the block you have to highlight the categories you what to show in the most recent list. This worked for me. Each time you upgrade you will loose this and will have to re highlight them. Try it and let me know if it works for you.

News Module change

Is it possible to downgrade from the News 1.3 back to the original news module? If so, would it be done just like an upgrade?

Once I upgraded to News 1.3 my data base became all scrambled, some users had other users stories in their profiles. This is quite a mess and I need to get it back the way it was.

Upgrading Xoops

I am getting ready to upgrade my site from 2.0.7.3 to 2.0.10 are there any problems that I could encounter doing this upgrade? I have not installed any mods in the original version.

Any advise here would be appreciated.

Word Definition hack

Wordnet at Princeton University has developed a program for highlighting and linking words in text documents to there online dictionary. I am not sure exactly how it works but it works good. Maybe some bright person here could write a hack to use this tool in Xoops. Here is the link where you can see how it works.

News Module Hack for Numbering text lines

Hack for News Module

Would it be easy to do a hack to allow each line in a news story or other news module display to be numbered. See example below.

jkadjaslkjfdlfjlfjsafdjasfjlfjdlkl------1
jaljfdlajfdsjfaldfjasljfalsjflkjfl------2
ajfdfiuijadfjklajfldasfj----------------3

ect...without the dashes though

If anyone has an idea how do to this let me know.

news 1.3.1 Module

I have successfully upgraded my news module to the new news 1.3.1 module. Everything seems to be working fine except I can not get any of the stories (poems) to show up in the middle block like set it up to do. All I get showing is « 1 (2) 3 4 5 ... 260 » like this. (even when I click on a number it doesn't go to the story (poem)
I can access the stories from the New releases list I set up but I can't get it to show the first 5 stories (poems) on the main page. Can anyone help me out with this?

You can visit my site to see, I have the news 1.3.1 set up as Main Poetry Library, this is where I want the first 5 poems to show in the center block in their entirety.

I had the same problem when I was trying to run News 1.3.11 on my 2.07 version of xoops. It would not place the news on the index page no matter what I did. When I tried it on my 2.09 version it worked perfectly. It must be a compatibility thing that wasn't noticed. I don't know how to fix it.

I am looking for someone who is very good with XOOPS to do some site upgrading for me. I have a specific job I need done, I have provided a brief outline below. If you know how to do this please let me know by PM how much it would cost to do it.


Upgrade NEWS module 1.2 to NEWS 1.3.1.1 to work with existing SQL on my site. Currently I am running 2 NEWS modules (NEWS 1.2 and NEW2 Clone) These two modules have an extensive data base that I want to work with NEWS 1.3.1.1
