Re: News

I ended up doing a reinstall. Partially successful so far. Difficulties with permissions and installing over.

Came home and did the upgrade as instructed and have success!!
Still lots of problems with permissions. Both boxes are debian BTW.

Thanks for the help. Now on to the next module.

Re: News

I had the older 1.1 module installed. Had trouble with zipping over it (prefer real tar files) and so I deleted and mv'd over the new 1.2.1 module. I think I failed to uninstall properly.

Can I recover from this? Or should I do a total new install?

Thanks for helping.

Re: News

OK. I guess I don't follow instructions well.
News page is blank. globals is off.

Here are some clues.

_MI_NEWS_NAME appears in Main Menu. Not the word news.
Only five active files: news_by_topic.html, news_index.html, news_article.html, news_archive.html and news_item.html.

Six files are not in the template. As an example when trying to upload.
I get this message:
Template file news_block_bigstory.html does not need to be installed (PHP files using this template file does not exist)

when I browse and try to generate these files I get a not found message (not exist)

Any ideas? Need more info? Need a smarter user?

Joe

Where can I download the 1.2.1 module? ( links I've found here are dead.)

Thank You.

Re: Felix, theCat!!! Re: paypal button How?

JMorris,

I am not getting the user's email to pass to paypal. The variable is empty. It looks like this in the html source.
<input type="hidden" name="business" value="" />

Did I do something wrong with the template cloning?

I did not see this option mentioned in your instructions when doing the template.
Quote:
Set "Update module template..." to No

Great progress you have made on this module.

JMoris,

This looks great! I just got in and will probably install this tomorrow.

Thanks again,

I'll keep you updated as to my progress.

Re: Any news on Xoopsshop osCommerce 0.2 / zencart?

xoops with an integrated robust cart is certainly an exciting proposition that I look forward to using. I can certainly relate to your php-nuke vs XOOPS example although I must say you are being rather harsh on osc with that comparison, if my experience with both osc and phpNuke is any basis for judgement.

Re: Any news on Xoopsshop osCommerce 0.2 / zencart?

I, for one, would welcome a thoughtful discussion on the merits of zencart vs oscommerce. Especially as it may relate to integration with xoops.

I now use oscommerce. I looked at zencart but after looking at the huge number of modules available for oscommerce (some I required) vs the significantly less for zencart I went with osc.

I am not suggesting zencart is inferior in code quality or anything else. Less could certainly be more.

But if osc code is reasonably good ( i'm not saying osc is inferior code) don't the comparatively huge number of modules and coders working away at osc make it a better choice because it has a much broader range of features at this time?

What are the perceived superior features of zencart?

Again let me emphasize I only seek a thoughtful discussion.
