I am positive now, that mainfile.php is allright, because I took from a tar.gz 4 days ago.

define('XOOPS_ROOT_PATH', '/home/username/public_html/html');
//define('XOOPS_URL', 'http://www.mobilfunk-volksbegehren.de/html');
define('XOOPS_URL', 'http://66.195.17.52/~username/html');

conclusion:
a) I am a dumb ***** )) ... ähm ....
b) the error was there before and I did not notice
c) error is caused by changing mainfile.php, but cant be resolved by moving back
d) ???????????????????????????????????????????????????

final word:
all my problems with mainfile.php seem to cause the system to be looking for a directory path with 2 times the username (/~username/~username/) ...

when I submit a change in php-admin I receive error:
Not Found
The requested URL (/~username/~username/html/modules/newbb/admin/admin_forum_manager.php was not found on this server.
Additionally, a 404 Not Found error was encountered while trying to use an ErrorDocument to handle the request.

I receive the same error - as described by jensclas - when opening any modul pages in php-admin:

Warning [PHP]: xoops_cp_header(/home/vobe/public_html/html/cache/adminmenu.php): failed to open stream: No such file or directory in file include/cp_functions.php line 55
Warning [PHP]: xoops_cp_header(): Failed opening '/home/vobe/public_html/html/cache/adminmenu.php' for inclusion (include_path='.:/usr/lib/php:/usr/local/lib/php') in file include/cp_functions.php line 55
...

What I have done?
I changed XOOPS_URL in mainfile.php fromhttp://www.mobilfunk-volksbegehren.de/html back tohttp://66.195.17.52/~vobe/html, because with domainname as XOOPS_URL I received this error, when setting the notification-options:

Undefined offset: 2 in file include/notification_update.php line 77
The requested URL /~user/~user/html/modules/newbb/viewtopic.php was not found on this server.
-> here are the details

I tried it before to run XOOPS_URL with ip without problems, but this time changing XOOPS_URL causes "failed to open stream" error.

bad thing about it:
I tried all my backup of mainfile.php and the error remains (even I didnot change anything else). It is, as if editing mainfile.php kicked something loose that I cant repair within mainfile.php.

Any ideas?

sorry, for the subject of this posting, but I am dreaming of riding a Concorde and Iam still riding a tricycle and I am getting desperate.

What I would like to have:
1.
have the domain name in url, not the ip
2.
the users of the "coordination-group" for the referendum - who are registering at the website www.mobilfunk-volksbegehren.de with "domain intern" email addresses like xxx@mobilfunk-volksbegehren.de - to be able to receive email-notification for new postings via email

What I have instead (thats what I call ridung a tricycle)
1.
the ip-adress in the url, because when I insert domainname as XOOPS_URL in mainfile.php, setting the notification-options for a posting returns an error:
Undefined offset: 2 in file include/notification_update.php line 77
The requested URL /~user/~user/html/modules/newbb/viewtopic.php was not found on this server.
Also this mismatch between ip-address in mainfile.php and domain name seems to provoke problems with login and user-privileges as described in several postings in this forum.

2.
when I change XOOPS_URL back to ip adress, setting the notification option for postings works without error, but then there are no emails send (even the email-addresses are allright outside the XOOPS-system and notification via email works allright for "extern email addresses outside of the domain").

What is really obvious is the error The requested URL /~user/~user/html/modules/newbb/viewtopic.php was not found on this server.
when using the domain name instead of ip in mainfile.php.

Does anybody know?

it is me again, still struggeling with xoops_url ...
After changing XOOPS_URL to 'http://www.mobilfunk-volksbegehren.de/html' the ip address vanished from the url allright, but the domainname as XOOPS_URL causes a new problem:

When I try to set notification options I get this error now:
Undefined offset: 2 in file include/notification_update.php line 77
The requested URL /~user/~user/html/modules/newbb/viewtopic.php was not found on this server.

When I change XOOPS_URL back to 'http://66.195.17.52/~user/html' everything is allright again.

Anybody has a clue for this confusing behaviour?

As stated in my last post my problem of ip address showing up in url (which I thought is not related to this thread) was just solved by changing ip-address to domainname in mainfile.php.

Now I found a posting, that info in mainfile not fitting to url can also cause login problems.

posting where I found the info
Quote:
It may be a conflict problem between the registered XOOPS Site URL and your browsers actual URL at logon time.

So this may be an answer to my login problem as well and I think my problem is solved now.

sorry for the dot at the end of the url, you can test the system with following urls:
http://www.mobilfunk-volksbegehren.de/html
http://66.195.17.52/html
http://66.195.17.52/~vobe/html
http://66.195.17.52/%7Evobe/html
http://66-195-17-52.dimenoc.com/~vobe/html/
whatever (this was a problem for me until solved 10 minutes ago by german XOOPS community, becausehttp://66.195.17.52/html was in mainfile.php and was therefore displayed in the url).

allright, anyhow there is still this problem with "missing privileges" as described above and I'll be back if problem occurs again or if I can describe any better. Thanks a lot for your support.

I checked again and the error occurs as described above (user has permissions and is logged in).

Because this error annoyes the users and the website supporting a referendum shall be introduced to the press next monday this problem is really serious.

For checking out, I created a user test/test who can see a posting test in the window "most recent themes" onhttp://www.mobilfunk-volksbegehren.de/html/index.php. Dont be mad at me if it works. Please believe me that users really complain and theer is a problem.

Glad if you have any hints, asche

On www.mobilfunk-volksbegehren.de/html it happens that a registered/loggedin user tries to call a posting in a private forum from window "most recent themes" and the following error occurs (sorry, I dont know the exact wordig of this error in English):
"you dont have the privileges to enter this forum".

I am sure that the user is logged in allright (I remember seeing the username allright, but I cant check now, because it is working for a change).

This error occurs quite often when using a multibrowser (I tried firefox and irider), so maybe it is a refresh problem. With internet explorer it usually works (I am not sure if it happened once).

Weird thing is that the user can access the forum from window "most recent themes" without a problem (the forum is listed on the left side to the posting). Also the user can navigate to the forum directly and open the posting allright. So this error occurs only when calling a posting from window "most recent themes" (and that is the way my users enter the forum and they keep on complaining).

I'll be back to be more specific. Do other users have the same problem? Somebody knows how to handle this?

I downloaded DBDesigner 4 and it looks like a nice tool.

Now I would like to run a ddl script created with phpadmin. After connection to db I tried in query window (takes only sql, no ddl) and with pugin dbimport (I suppose it is only for data), with no success.

So how can I create tables from a "ddl-dump"?
