Have a look here:

http://www.sitstay.com/pedi/

This is an online pedigree generator. What would be handy (and would be great for geneology freaks too! No offense... ;) Filling in all the details creates a 1-page, 3-4 generation pedigree. The module I had in mind would have a search function, image link/attachment, and of course user-submission. All data would reside in the database, which gives it a boost past all these html based noes. It would be a perfect addition to Xoops!

Talk abuot special purpose! But I thought it might come in handy for, err, other heirarchical things?

Anyway, the idea would be to create pedigree charts (dog, cat, horse, people (genealogical) etc), with user submission and comments, and links to pics or thumbs uploadable.

There are a number of online tools that create online pedigrees, but just about everything I have seen is quite clumsy.

If I am barking up the wrong tree (ooooh Gods - double pun!) let me know!

Thanks,

Marc

After a lot of work crafting meta-tag keywords - and wondering why I was so low on the google-pole, I had a loko at the source of my site - no contents in any of the meta-tags! In System Admin/Meta Tags and Footer I have all my meta tags, but a view source shows:

<meta http-equiv="content-type" content="text/html; charset=ISO-8859-1" />
<
meta http-equiv="content-language" content="en" />
<
meta name="robots" content="" />
<
meta name="keywords" content="" />
<
meta name="description" content="" />
<
meta name="rating" content="" />
<
meta name="author" content="" />
<
meta name="copyright" content="" />
<
meta name="generator" content="XOOPS" />

Can anyone help here? I opened up theme.html of the theme we are using (doggie) and indeed it has:

<meta http-equiv="content-language" content="<{$xoops_langcode}>" />
<
meta name="robots" content="<{$meta_robots}>" />
<
meta name="keywords" content="<{$meta_keywords}>" />
<
meta name="description" content="<{$meta_description}>" />
<
meta name="rating" content="<{$meta_rating}>" />
<
meta name="author" content="<{$meta_author}>" />
<
meta name="copyright" content="<{$meta_copyright}>" />
<
meta name="generator" content="XOOPS" />

Can someone help here?

Thanks,

Bassclef

The first thing we tried was personal firewall settings etc. We are using firefox so the 'trusted site' portion is moot, and IPCop (the person with the largest problem) is only filtering+NAT...

Ok - I have been able to replicate this problem more or less frequently - can someone try the following:

Reply to a post, type something.
Leave your computer, wait for at least 5 minutes
Press submit

HOPEFULLY you will get 'THank you for your submission! already submitted!' and it will fail.

Finding out why this happens hopefully will lead us on to why it happens to some users ALL the time!

Ok thanks for your response. What I was hoping someone would do is ask me for more information - the real problem is that I can provide anything - I just don't know what to give you! As far as user issues - there is no single issue with who fails or not. All are using firewalls (working or not), and the type does njot seem to matter. My most consistent 'failer' is behind an IPCop firewall - NOT running Squid. I use Astaro and have no problems. Here at work we are using Cacheflow for proxying, Checkpoint for firewallinog, no problems. Other working (and sometimes not working) users are usnig home-DSL router/firewalls...

I have ensured that the site is trusted even on most users. No dice.

Thanks,

Marc

Looks like we are on our own mate...

I can't find out why it works for some and not others...THAT's what annoys me more than anything else!
