Yes, I see that this parasite, Kartali, has been busy playing his little games for a while.

May the fleas of one thousand camels infest his genitals.

UPDATE:

I tried James' solution, but it appears the little parasite wormed his way into the database, not just the XOOPs files.

My solution? Tear the whole thing down and start over again. And be as careful as possible next time.

Thanks for all your help!

You are all VERY KIND. Thank you.

Tom, I'm running 2.2.4, and I do wonder whether that's a good idea or not, but I haven't had any probs so far.

Jensclas, I think, based on the facts that myAds has a hole that I didn't know about (and a patch that I obviously didn't know about) I can guess that might be a suspect.

But given that my host tells me that I am no longer allowed to use htaccess as described in the README in the Protector module, I needed to figure out how to configure PhP.ini. Each time I tried, I got a blank screen problem and so shut Protector off. I guess that was a mistake.

I am usually careful to CHMOD folders properly and to use the index.html with the -1 thing, but I must have missed something.

I so didn't need this right now. I will attempt the fixes suggested by James (thanks!) and see where that leaves me.

One question...why would the hacker leave his e-mail address? Do you think it's just bait for mor nefarious deeds?

That is the message I got when I went to my site this evening. An animated .gif of an eagle flying replaces my page while something LARGE is loading and then a redirect that I did NOT allow to occur.

I can no longer get anywhere on my site, and know that I have to look for some unauthorized scripts. Any help as to where I should start? Please?

Thanks!

NEWS module, "Random News" block, include images?

What would thrill me to no end would be if the NEWS module's "Random News" block could be hacked to include images from the random article picked to display in the block.

The AMS module's "Spotlight" feature allows for images in the Spotlight block, but AMS Spotlight doesn't have a "Random Article" option.

Does anyone know of any quick and dirty hack that would provide this functionality?

newbb/other blocks don't reflect theme (7-dana clean) styles

Hey y'all.

I am puzzled about why some blocks, such as the "Recent Posts" block of NewBB, don't display according to the styles of my selected theme--7-Dana, clean.

Is there there something missing from the theme template.html that causes the theme not to recognize these blocks? Or is it something about the modules and/or blocks templates that cause this?

Or is it because I'm running XOOPs 2.2.4 and the theme was built for XOOPs 2.0.3 > 2.0.7 ? If that is the case, can a theme be "updated?"

Please visithttp://www.thedial.net/html to see what I'm talking about.

Thanks for any help you can lend!

I want to start automatic a topic in forum when I submit a news. Can XOOPS generate automatic a link to topic and post it in news (article). I hope you can understand my poor inglish and I apologise if this have been answered.

The articles module "AMS 2.41" can link news topics to any NewBB 2 forum which when set displays a 'discuss' button at the bottom of each article under that topic.

I am very fond of the latest XOOPs news module, "News", however, and suggest that you play around with both of them to see which has the most features you like.

Okay, I think I've trimmed it down to just the ones that work.

BUT the pain in the butt is that I can't figure out how to display XOOPs code without it actually doing its thing. So, using HTML, I've started the list and set up examples.

Unfortunately, this forum doesn't allow html in posts. Go here to see what it looks like.

Does anyone know if the FAQs here allow HTML? Which brings up the question I had earlier: Julian, you said you posted an FAQ. I can't find it. Where is it?

ALSO: If the XOOPs system knows what to do with the codes we've identified, doesn't it stand to reason that a file somewhere within the XOOPs system itself contains all the codes?

Could someone make this into a full list and add it to smartFAQ's.

[snip]

The more XOOPS can have a full user guide module, which can be added the better.

[snip]

Is there anyway we can all work on it together, so it becomes a full comprehensive guide of every question the end users ask.

Yes, definitely. After I posted, I started testing the different tags other boards used to see which ones work and which ones don't.

I'll compile the list, write the FAQ answer, and submit it to this forum later today or tomorrow. Please review my effort and offer comments and criticism.

***oh, and Julian, you said:

This would make an excellent faq topic. I have posted a question if anyone cares to write an answer. I do not know all the codes myself.

Could you post a link to that FAQ? I didn't find it.

Timestamp goes away with 2.2.4 patch

At the bottom of the 2.2.4 Patch installation instructions is the suggestion:
Quote:
RSS time in ROOT/language/english/local.php has been changed to take into account the time zone. You might want to change your own language file to fix the same bug.

My timestamp went bye-bye with this patch install, so can someone explain that for me? I'm guessing that some change needs to be made somewhere between lines 53 and 60. I just don't know what it might be...

Appreciate any help you can provide!
