Version 2.4.5 on an Ubuntu 10.04 32bit Server Edition using ISPConfig 3 I get the error message:

No XOOPS installation could be found in the specified folder.

in step 4. Any help is greatly appreciated.

I think, this is server related.

Most probably your server is pointing the domain to a different directory than the one you copied XOOPS to...

Verify that all files are present with th file check (see release notes).
Verify that the paths, which are filled in and/or proposed by the installation procedure, are correct.
