Hello all. First off I want to say that I am indeed a newbie to the webmaster front, but I LOVE the XOOPS CMS. It has been great concerning the ease of use, and everyone contributing to the Modules effort have been truly amazing! (I only wish I held the knowledge to create some content, of my own, for everyone as well!)

I am currently trying to install a portal page for my XOOPS site which is installed into a subfolder, rather than my webhost root folder, (public_html, or www). I did this with the hope of being able to epxand outward from my XOOPS site allowing me to utilize my site for many purposes or scripts.

I am trying to match header characteristics, with the XOOPS site, to my portal site, so all will flow correctly, visually. All I want to move is my logo, the blue header banner, without the ad banner, and the silver bar that strecthes below the blue header banner bar.

After a bit of copy paste copy paste cycles, I have successfully integrated matching css styles from the XOOPS theme css sheet to my own index.html page swithcing from using an external page to keeping the css inline with my index document.

My problem is, The header hars do not display all the way to the edge of my index page ( http://www.myhotprofile.net/index.html ), like they do on the XOOPS main index page ( http://www.myhotprofile.net/content_manager/ ). I want to move the entire header to touch the top and sides of the browser page, but all attempts to reposition the header data has failed.

Here is my code for index.html:

Quote:

MyHotProfile.Net Entry

I suspect I may need to rename this file to php, but, you'll have to tell me, really, is that what I'm doing wrong?

Once again, I am a COMPLETE ROOKIE to all html and web programming, although, I am VERY eager to learn.

Any help is greatly appreciated.

-Tommy

tdejesus, Welcome to the XOOPS forum!

Do a view HTML source of the XOOPS page and use the various elements in the header and body to align better and style alike in the index.html file.
It is not possible to have some dynamic PHP generated content, like the banner or the blocks, etc. there, altough you might set some static images or content in place.

First, thanks for the Welcome!

I'm not sure exactly what you mean. Do you suggest that I use a header bar image instead of having one repeated? Thanks for the prompt reply, also!

EDIT: After you mentioned looking at the source code, I noticed some differences I will try. Thanks for your help, I'll post my update soon.

I got it. Thank you VERY MUCH. I would have stared at code for another six months until I understood something. You know, the sad part is, I've experimented just a little with the table tags but my tests didn't work for me, so I started trying other things.

Thanks again for your help! I know I'll probably be back...

EDIT: For anybody else who is venturing, like myself, into personally unknown territory, you can view the source code for the main page of your site, (For example, the XOOPS main page.), by clicking "View" on the menu bar of your Internet Explorer Browser, and then clicking "Source" from the drop-down menu. This will show the current web-page's source code.

Simple stuff, huh?

Dang...

...I'm such a newbie.
