Where exactly are you trying to change permissions (link)?
Is it in admin - users - groups (/modules/system/admin.php?fct=groups)?

No. Groups permissions are ok.
i'm getting the error in module admin section. ( /modules/profile/admin/permissions.php or /modules/newbb/admin/admin_permissions.php )
in these pages when i'm going to save changes ( after checking and unchecking the proper boxes ) i'll face the error!!!!

i forgot to say that i'm in Administation group and i have the access to manage these modules.

i had a problem with the latest news and events not being visible to anonymous user even though the permissions were set right. But once i submitted the permissions again the latest news and events became visible again to anonymous users.

To cut the story short just try to resubmit the permissions even though they may be set as you want them too. Just resubmit them and check if the problem still persists or not.

In my case resubmission is not possible as hitting the submit button takes you to the 'sorry .. no access' message.

However I have discovered that if I take a copy of the site onto my local machine (winXP + IIS) then, without making any other changes to the set up, the permissions can be changed OK.

upgraded to Newbb 4.0 RC, XOOPS 2.3.2b,

When I tried to setup a new forum, only administrator can access the forum. However, the old forums are fine.

As far as I know, lot of people has this same problem.

For those who understand the code of newBB or Xoops, please try it yourself. This must be a bug, not misuse.

Thanks

I have seen this same problem on a local test site, for me I can set the permissions for only one group(any group), if I try for 2 different groups I get the "you don't have permission to access this area". I am logged in as admin and have admin rights to modules.

I think it could be a bug in the permission system, but not sure, it could just be a new way of doing permissions, and the modules need work.

Re: Permission Problem in XOOPS 2.3.2b

Some more info to keep this issue ticking along:

Profile 1.52 doesn't allow changes to field permissions in the module's permissions tab on setup 1 (hosted) but does on setup 2 (local).

Setup 2 was created by downloading from my hosted site with non-working permissions and finding they did work on the local machine.

Has this been accepted as something that needs fixing or is the community still unsure whether those with the problem have caused it themselves?

I've run out of ideas of what to cross check between my host and local. Only the OS and Apache versions remain and I'm not sure either should be relevant (if they are we're all in big trouble!).

Advice/help/comforting words/friendly shoulders all welcome.

Re: Permission Problem in XOOPS 2.3.2b

Following yesterday's post about Profile 1.52 I can confirm the same situation exists for:

News 1.62
AMS 2.51

Permissions can't be changed on the Permissions page in these modules. Fortunately, they can still be changed in their Topic pages.
