XOOPS installed on my site as ex. http://www.dummy.com/xoops-2.0.18.1.

* The xoops-2.0.18.1 directory has all the important stuff (like htdocs, upgrade, extras etc)

My images page URL looks like:
http://www.dummy.com/xoops-2.0.18.1/htdocs/modules/extgallery/

I need the XOOPS URL to be renamed into something else e.g., http://www.dummy.com/something/htdocs/modules/extgallery/ OR
http://www.dummy.com/extgallery/

I doubt if just "renaming" the module would work. I haven't installed XOOPS myself, so I wouldn't know much details. Please provide quick info!!

Well standard installations install directly in the web root and not in the /xoops-2.0.18.1/htdocs/ directory, so your URL's would normally look as: http://www.dummy.com/modules/extgallery/ .(eg. see this sites URL.) (Both optons work, but as you saw for yourself the URL does not look so good.)
It is possible to simply move all the files, but then you must edit mainfile.php to adjust the new path in the definitions of XOOPS_URL and XOOPS_ROOT_PATH.
