XOOPS Version: 2.0.18.1
Module Name/Version: Content 0.5
PHP Version: 5.2.5
MySQL Version: 5.0.5.1
Web Server Software (Apache/IIS/Other): Apache 2.2
Operating System: Windows XP
Theme you are using:
Custom template: (Yes/No) No
PHP Debug Messages:
MySQL Debug Messages:
Smarty Debug Messages:
A full description of the issue:

I'm having trouble getting the Content module to work. It installs successfully, but when I go to the default page, I get a white screen.

Also, when I go to the admin section and click on the Add Content option, it just returns the admin menu screen over and over again.

I'm new to XOOPS and I'm not sure where to look for debugging information. That might be enough for me to figure this out.

Thanks,

JF

Unfortunately Content 0.5 isn't currently PHP5 compatible. I'd recommend you look at one of the other available content managers. Depending on how complex your data is you could try one of the following:

* Edito (simple content mgr)
* AMS (section manager)
* SmartSection (section manager)

Unfortunately one of the better modules (pico) recently stopped supporting XOOPS so it works for now, but can't say what the future holds.

I know there's other content modules available, although I'm drawing a blank right now... I'm sure others will 'chime in' with their favorites - good luck & welcome to Xoops!

Thanks for that although this is happening with nearlly all the content modules I install.
Do I have to install an editor as well? Is that's what's missing?

No, you should not have to install an editor to make them work. With many content modules you can get additional functionality by installing editors but all of them, by default, will use the built-in dhtml or just txt editor.

Try enabling debug to see if you are getting any errors.

Administration >
System Admin >
Preferences>
General Settings

About half way down the page you'll find the "Debug Mode" field.

You may also want to make sure your templates_c, cache, and uploads folders have the right permissions for your server environment (755 or 777 depending on your configuration).

No errors are showing & the folder permissions are all 777.
I've installed Tiny, Content, Inbetween & they all do the same that's why i'm thinking i've missed something vital.

I installed Smart section ok & this is fine.
I have been trying to install a static html page module so i can add my own content, intro to my business, our ethos etc.
