comment notification in news module [Module usage questions]

in the news preferences you can select the notification option for new comments, but that option doesn't appear in the notification block, it only shows notification options for new topics/stories.
so how can i be notified of new comments?? thanks

The comment notification option for the news module is a story-level option, not a global or topic option. View an individual story and the comment area appears and the notification option will too.

thanks, but there doesn't seem to be a global notification option for comments, so do i really have to activate it in every topic individually or is there an easier way?
