Main Options drop down in NewBB always expanded

Every time I install CBB 1.16 or newBB 2.02 on a XOOPS 2.0.16 I get the following:

...where the Main Options are expanded and not like here:

Anyone have a clue where I start looking for the problem?

Look the file : readme.txt

Thanks but I can't see what the problem is in the readme file. Mine says exactly the same as the one you posted.

search for
<script type="text/javascript">
in the theme.html and add this
<{$xoops_module_header}>
before
cu wuddel

If there is nobody with the answer, would anyone know who writes the code?

is the newbb.css file for newbb being included.? (view source)

and then check if it is present on the server. location is in the modules/newbb/templates folder. (check for the file using your browser, with the location from the page source)

Thanks but both are present and correct. I have other sites with the same installation/configuration and don't have the problem. It's all very bizarre!
