I intend to make som custom pages/sections (whatever) with pages or something similar. These are supposed to be a kind of entry folders into specific subjects, and these "index" pages should be easy accessible. It would be great if it was possible to have a logic and human friendly url, a kind of http://www.site.com/logic instead of not understandable urls with a long tail of paramteres.

Is that a possibility with Xoops? If so, how do I do it?

there are many seo friendly url hack provided for xoops.
you should search in forum(and google if you want) to find them.

too bad that such important feature is given as a "hack"

I should be a core feature

like we should have web 2.0 all over xoops

IMO, I don't think a blanket crazy rewrite method is best.
I've gone through on my site and hacked the news module to do friendly URLs. Then I hacked xfguestbook and the google maps module to use friendly urls. I find it a better method as you can control what the URL will be, which is a plus.
