I'm trying to use one of the custom fields to display a paypal 'buy now' button in xcgal (im displaying fine art images and want to make them buyable)

1- The fields are not long enough to take the paypal code. Does any one know how to modify or hack this to make it work?

TIA.

I believe if you make the field 'text' in the DB it should allow enough space.

Here's an example of the code in a Paypal Buy Now button.

Whenever I use a module like xcgal or myalbum-p I spend most of my customisation time stripping stuff out of the templates. Most of these 'gallery modules' are pig-ugly. I mean the image displayed is so heavily distracted with 'features' like rating buttons, sort orders, links to this and that ... it goes on. I think from an artistic viewpoint we must make a module that allows these features to be optional, not hard coded in the templates.

If you go to any art site you will see very minimalist functions. This is the modern contemporary style that galleries and artists want these days. Currently there is not a single XOOPS module that can do this without extensive hacking.

I also suggest an optional feature to 'BUY' the image, or visual asset. Rather than make a whole os-commerce thing, It's easier to use paypal. Maybe a plugin or at least a field where admins can post a cart button like Lance has shown above. I use xcgal for this, because we can hide all the details behind a javascript layer that opens only when required. This is a great way to present art content. A clean clear minimalist page that opens a details layer when you want them

This is what Im trying to achieve with xcgal.

carnuke - the module from zoullou could be useful for this as it uses a lightbox script, which is tricky to grab and save images from as well

Yes, David, I just looked at Zoulou's site and saw the demo. The light box ida is very classy and brings good focus to the images. Thanks for the suggestion.

I believe there is also another Gallery module under development with payment options as well

(I'm sure that BOTH of them will be excellent )

Hi all,

What do you think if i add an extra field on the DB (type : text). I can add a preference to display or not this field on photo submit page and a smarty varible will automaticly created. You just have to put this varible where you want on the template.

Cheers

That would be an excellent idea. It would allow admins to display Cart button against every image and place it where they want in the template. They could also put liks to other pages, or extra info. Good call zoulou

I have seen demos on your website, but cant DL the module yet. Will have options to remove/add

votes
photo information
hits
comments
etc.

- Will the light box have other transition effects?
- Will there be import scripts for xcgal, myalbum-p?

Thanks Richard
