Host pics remotely?

I run XOOPS via a host account, and, naturally, space is at a premium. I have many gigs of fairly large photos that I would like to make available to users. If, say, I were to set up a web server at home to be served by my 512k up DSL connection, with a dedicated IP, is it possible to access pics stored there via my XOOPS site?

In other words, could I use an album module to access those pics? The thumbs could be stored on my XOOPS server, and the full sized pics would be on my local server.

Any ideas in this regard will be greatly appreciated.

Just an idea - lots of ordinary pc users have photos hosted on webshots - you could host pics there and link to them. It's free space to a certain degree. http://www.webshots.com

here is my album so you can see what it can do. http://community.webshots.com/user/sunraysiapainter

They rely on advertising for the free accounts so I am not sure you can get a url to just the picture...you may get all the advertising as well.

Thanks for the reply. Not quite what I need, though. Still thinking...
