I'm hoping there's an easy answer for this. For my site http://cavsworld.com I want to add photo libraries. What I'm hoping for is a module that lets me do something like the following

Drop a folder of jpegs on the server

tell the module the path to the new folder, specify a title, click a button

Have a new sub menu with that title appear under the photo library menu that opens a page with thumbnails of each image in that folder where a click on the image opens a new page that has the full size image and has next/previous buttons that take you to the page for the next/previous image.

it's also be nice if the module tracked view counts for each image to give me feedback of which images people are viewing the most.

I have about 60 images from the game today that I'd like to get online tomorrow. I'd prefer to not have to go through a manual process of loading the images one at a time.

And it's important for there to be a clear distinction between this group and the pictures I take for game 2.

Have you tried out the modules in the Module Repository?

One of the most popular modules is MyAlbum-P by GIJOE.

I'm not sure if it meets all of your qualifications, but I'm pretty sure it meets most.

Hope that helps.

I saw the modules in there - the descriptions weren't detailed enough to tell which one would best fit my needs.

One one site I've worked with, http://www.madcycles.us, the user's (one in particular) documented a ride on his motorcycle across Europe. (It a shame his film got hot, and you will know the pics by the orange hue.) That was not a failing of the module, rather a hazzard roughing it on a motorcycle with little protection for himself or his film. There's a lot of detail in the "text" that appears below each image and many of these photos are showing up in google images, and other image repositories. xcGallery allows you to create up to 4 custom fields for input which the users of this site have really used superbly (if that's even a word)

I'd call that a HUGE success in support of this module which is xcGallery.

On the other hand, it's not very friendly for the novice. I my experience this module has left many a user just walking away from the site without contributing. I've found MyAlbum-P to fill the needs there.

Plus MyAlbum-P has the ability to move images into the XOOPS Image Manager. This is a HUGE plus if you have active contributors. An example site where MyAlbum-P has worked well for the users is http://www.trianglebirdclub.org.

Although I wouldn't dare recommend one over the other as they're both excellent contributions to the XOOPS community, I do hope you find this experience helpful.

yes, that was helpful - it's good to see examples. How much control do you have? For now I would just want to allow administrators to upload albums but allow everyone to view them.

Thanks for the help - I ended up using xcGallery - it took far longer than it should to get running - my server is a mac mini - it didn't have the image libraries installed, it took forever to work through getting ImageMagick installed with JPEG support - the jpeg library wasn't installed either.

My first library is here

http://www.cavsworld.com/modules/xcgal/thumbnails.php?album=2

from the playoff cavs first playoff game. It's a big hit - in the first hour I exceeded my combined hit count for the last 2 days.
