How effective is the meta tag in xoops? How do I get my website listed in google and yahoo?

For Google: http://www.google.com/webmasters/1.html

For Yahoo: http://search.yahoo.com/info/submit.html

Thanks for your reply. I am quite confused with the modifications of the html thingy.

Could anyone do me a favor, can you visit my site to see if I need to do any modifications or if my site can be auto-detected by google and yahoo.
