I have a XOOPS 2.3.0 Installation and I'm looking for a forum module

I'm a little bit confused about CBB 2.3.0 and NewBB 2.02 ...
because it seems, that newBB is a discontinued project ...
and that CBB is it's successor ...

but newBB is much more popular in the download section ...


what exactly is the difference between newBB and CBB ?
Does CBB have any drawbacks compared to newBB ... or what exactly is the reason for this lack of popularity ?

Yes you are right CBB is the successor of newbb 2.x and there is currently no development taking place on newbb anymore. (its quite unlikely someone will pick it up again)

CBB contains some fixes, optimizations and enhancements over newBB.

CBB is maintained by a team around phppp who worked together with predator(sadly he left Xoops) on the newBB 2.
