I installed XOOPS on a hosted server. The server has netpbm version 10.26.5 installed on it.

When I check the netpbm configuration, I get the following errors. I am not sure what to do to correct these errors. Is there a version on netpbm that is not supported by xoopgallery.

Look for keywords like "Linux", "Windows", "FreeBSD", etc. in the output above. If both the attempts above failed, you should ask your ISP what operating system you are using. You can check via Netcraft, they can often tell you.


You told the config wizard that your NetPBM binaries live here:

/usr/local/bin


If that is not right (or if it is blank), re-run the configuration wizard and enter a location for NetPBM.

i'm not sure xoopsgallery works with netpbm 10

but i'm sure if u serach for netpbm binaries on the menalto gallery site you can find version 9 of netpbm.. just upload those binaries to your server and change the path in xoopsgallery to the folder you just uploaded the v9 binaries to and it should work :)

I am looking for version 9.24 but the only version on netpbm I am finding is 10.18. Does it matter that the server is running freebsd and the version on the server is 10.26.5.

i couldn't get it working with any version higher than 9.. but no it shouldn't make any difference what it's compiled on.. especially if the host compiled it from source for their particular system..

but you will need to find binaries for freeBSD and not linux generic ones i think.. as long as u get binaries that are already compiled then you can just copy them straight to the server and it should be ok.. if you download the source then you would need to compile it and that requires root access to the server..

have just managed to solve this problem myself. I had these error messages and the module didn't install correctly.

I had downloaded xoopsGallery from this site (Version 1.3.3.3) - there is however a newer version at the xoopsGalery site (1.3.3.5) here.
(I won't say anything about how long I took before I got the idea that maybe I didn't have the newest version....)
After I installed the newer version all my errors but one were gone (the ppmquant binary failed to identify itself correctly) and the module installed correctly. It now works ok.
