Module to store MS Word, Excel, Access, etc Files?

We have installed the "Document Management System" module on XOOPS 2.0.6. It runs fine, but we are running this on Windows 2000 with XSAS on a Home LAN to use as a Document Management System between myself, the Wife and our Teens. We would like to store MS Word, Excel and Access files in a XOOPS module, yet click on them and have the appropriate MS application open the file. When you do this in the DMS, it opens a "Open or Save As" box and all the documents are seen as "file_retrieve.php" file.

Any ideas on what module might provide the type of storage we are looking for?

I am not up to speed on the DMS module, but I was under the impression that if files were stored in their original mime type, ie xxxx.doc etc then they should open in the default application for that type, ie MS-Word.

You could try

IPFM

and see if this suits your needs better

There are also some settings in IE that determine what it does when a Word doc (for example) is clicked. I can't remember off the top of my head, but if you do a Google search for 'opening office documents using Internet Explorer' or something like that the results will come up - that's how I found out. But there's a few steps to it so I can't remeber off the top of my head.

carnuke - IPFM won't do the job for us, we would like the files to be stored in the MySQL db. The "Documentaion Center" module works pretty nice and even opens Access, but it did something to the database while importing it in because Access said the file was corrupted, yet the file opens fine on the drive.
