Modules - failed open fileModule data updated

Anyone see this issue? After backign up and reinstalling my system I am noticing that modules when updated give this error.

"failed open fileModule data updated.
Unable to write to main menu."

Happens in all modules...

My guess is its a permission issue at the file system level. We just installed an existing website running 2.0.9.2 on a NEW box running RHES ES 4 (new one out today)

We enabled the firewall... could this be a port issue? Is there a specific port needed?

I can't answer your question specifically - but do a search on Firewall and you might find the answer.

There are about three threads with this topic.

Here's what worked for me:

The file cache/adminmenu.php cannot be written to... change it to 777

after doing a search for this problem this fixed an error that was stopping me set up a module i had installed
Myalbum-p woulding installed a admin menu option.
I had recent,ly moved from one server to another and the script they used didnt copy all the permissions across.
i got this error Unable to write to main menu and that fixed it good
