Hi,
I was wondering if XOOPS is compatibale with MySQL 4.1.x? I noticed in the docs that it mentions 3.2. I have 4.1 installed and am having problems setting up XOOPS. Specifically, when I hit 'Next' on the "Confirm DB Settings" page I get a blank page. My DB seems to running normally
Thanks
-Josh

yes it is compatible.. but there are issues with php versions of 4.3.x & MySQL 4.1.x due to the password hash being changed etc.. in which case you're advised to use MySQL 4.0.x

it's not a problem with XOOPS more of the sql clients not being compatible.. or something..

but i do have php 4.3.10a & sql 4.1.7 running on my home pc with XOOPS no problem..

Thanks for the advice.
I have php5.
That could be part of the problem as well

I'll try your config and see how that works out for me

When using PHP 5 it is rather important that you set the PHP directive "register_long_arrays" to "on" in your PHP configuration.

I ran into a similar problem today after installing MySQL 4.1 it didnt want to install... I am going to play with installing the latest PHP 5. But I was installing this on a brand new Red Enterprise Linux 3 ES box, I left PHP alone and just upgraded the MySQL Server to the latest.

the password hashing issues can be solved by using sql administrator

click the security tab and then tick the box that says "USE OLD PASSWORD METHOD"

then click on users etc and then change your password (remember MySQL old password method is abt 8 - 10 chars max i think)

you'll then have to update your phpmyadmin config.inc file and your XOOPS mainfile.php to reflect the new password change..

but if ur using php of 4.3.9 or earlier, you will have problems..

i'm having no problems using php 4.3.10 & MySQL 4.1.8 and also php 5.03.. hope this helps..
