I wanted to edit one of my previoous posts but couldn't find the edit button. So I replied instead and the edit button appeared for my reply. Is it tied to the session? Why?

There is a 'edit_timelimit' config in module config.
If you are not willing to dicover the new NewBB by yourself, you can wait for the NewBB Readme that will come with NewBB 2.0 Final.
