Boo! Hope it comes back, otherwise the upgrade paths for XOOPS of those using any of their modules might be in question .

Hence the reason why it's not recommended to alter the core itself, I guess unless this either starts back up or some one can take over, then people using this module maybe stuck with that XOOPS version for a while.

Glad I stuck with Newbb, personaly

Hi Tom & rest of people worried,

Talked with koudanshi, and he is not stopping with developing IPB for XOOPS. He has only a conflict with his host.

Looking for solution (his sites eats CPU), in the meantime site will be unavailable I'm afraid.

i doubt his site was suspended for any legal reasons, probably lack of payment maybe? he was within his bounds with IPB (having gained their permission QUITE awhile ago), and a hack that *other* users post is their own property & legal problem, not koudanshi's


anyways, i'm sticking with the phpbb port, since newbb is too limited, newbb2 is too broken (and still has limitations). so far, i've gotten phpbb using XOOPS groups system, lol, so i'm going to continue using the module and maybe start a dev.xoops project for it, with all modifications, etc. i'm going to apply the 2.0.9+ fixes from phpbb, and then branch my modified version away, since there's so many changes already.

i'd also like to find a way to make phpbb work without XOOPS modifications, altho the login hack is NICE.

he's always had problems with his hosts i believe. i wonder if the excessive cpu is due to the ipb mod?

while understand the argument for non-core mods - the benefits the ipb module brings to XOOPS out weigh the disadvantages imo

yup thats great news to hear.. thanks Jan :)

i presumed it was for the other reason as the guy said he was gonna report it to the host and have the site shut down.. and then no more than 12 hrs later the site was gone.. so just unlucky timing really..

but i'm glad it's not for the reason i thought :)

@bd_csmc: No, IPB is actually know for his little CPU usage, but you know, some host actually just do not like portal systems (like xoops) because they idd use a lot CPU.

Koudanshi has already registred at another host and is awaiting moving progress.
