Re: php debug issues?

no worries.. at least i posted links for you ;) not very often i do that.

i'm not getting at ya, but as a newbie, i'm just encouraging you to search a bit more. and try and keep on topic..

main reason is, i came to this topic because it said debug errors & found only 3 posts related to debug error.. the rest dealing with editing templates. fine by me.. but think of other beginners searching for their problems..

they may have an issue with templates, and this thread may or may not help them.. but with the thread title being about debug errors, how would they know that some info that may help them with templates is in this thread??

it makes sense to have 1 topic question/problem per thread.. if you have another unrelated problem, start a new thread. that way every thread is actually related to the thread title and not filled with info not related. it makes it a lot easier to find things and makes better organisation.

ps. i always came top for sarcasm in school, and bottom of the league in the popularity tables. ;)

thanks the sarcasm is sweet and I thought this was called the beginners corner for a reason, we cant all be experts, I have spent 4 days in the FAQ's, maybe I just ned a little help being pointed in the right direction sometimes. Thanks for helping, and no thanks for being an ass doing it!

try not to edit the template files themselves.. if you screw up, then i don't need to tell u what happens..

do as tripmon suggested and clone the default set and then edit them from admin..

it's a strange thing, but i always wondered what the FAQ section is for.. (sarcasm)

https://xoops.org/modules/smartfaq/faq.php?faqid=490

https://xoops.org/modules/smartfaq/faq.php?faqid=181

https://xoops.org/modules/smartfaq/faq.php?faqid=182

https://xoops.org/modules/smartfaq/faq.php?faqid=208

https://xoops.org/modules/smartfaq/faq.php?faqid=287

https://xoops.org/modules/smartfaq/faq.php?faqid=289

but now we're onto templates and not debug errors.. talk about off topic. no wonder it gets harder to help people or for people to help themselves when posts aren't related etc..

ok the site is back up and running, exacly as it was before I started any editing,

the file I was taking about removing the code from is:

/modules/mylinks/templates/mylinks_index.html

Is this what you mean by editing the templates? If so thats what I did before, and just tried again but did not remove the logo or cat. listings.

Do I need to change something or update something for the changes to show?

Thats what I am doing now, I am deleting everything from my root and starting over with a fresh install.

I will work on changes once I have the site back up and running again. Thanks for the info and i will look into templates more before I start making changes and try to get this done the "right" way this time :)

FYI, I found I can upload and extract zip and tar files with the file manager in webmin. This will save hours in upload times and cut down on packets lost.

The bad part is, it wont delete directorys that are not emepty, so back to AceFTP to delete files 1 at a time :(
