Hello Fellow Xoopsers,

My team and I have created an advanced blog module. We need beta testers to work out the kinks. Once testing is complete, we'll release the module with install instructions.

Some notes on this blog module:
1) It's a loosely integrated port of Roller Weblogger.
2) It allows users to select themes and setup blogs on the fly
3) Every blog has an RSS feed, comments ability and many more features.

I tried it and noticed a few bugs. I am unable to report the bugs (no user/ password combo). Briefly the theme change/ update feature seems to be inoperable or counter-inuitive; Bugs can not be reported; access to "comments" caused a blank page to load.

On the whole it looks very clean, but seems buggy.

I have a XOOPS site called Blogger Forum that badly needs something like this. At this point, we are using News (not a bad blog module --although not intented as such) together with Spotlight and, in addition, we have a link to a Blogger blog. We use News to mirror what appears on the blog --which is an awkward way to handle things.

Having a searchable, XOOPS compliant module would be very nice indeed. I would like to test your module and let you know what I think. I have a site that I use strictly for testing before I put things on the main site.

As of yet, we don't have an admin panel that does basic configurations for this module. We're building one to handle bare bone basics.

I'll let you know as soon as we're finished. We didn't want to disappoint anyone that downloaded our module and wanted to work out all the kinks before we made it for public release..

As of yet, we need more testers hammering away on the module and signing up on CalFacts so we can flush out any bugs.

We're using mantis bug tracker, but you have to signup for that as well couldn't find a decent bug tracker to fit our needs on Xoops, so we're just running the bug tracker separately.

For comments access, you need to enable comments on your particular blog. This is located on the weblog settings.

Theme changer works just fine. You can change your theme by logging into your blog> Website tab> Theme tab.

I can't tell if this is a feature...

Can the admin give blog creation rights to particular groups or users, while giving everyone rights to read.

Or, can anyone with read access also create a blog?

Is this an actual blog module? or are these just blocks which taps into a roller blogger install to show recent posts?

Once I go to the blog module all the links go to a site outside of xoops.

It's a combo of both. Roller is written in Java so the blogger can't really be a module fit into XOOPS nicely.

We have it so that it shares user tables. Anyone who creates an account on Xoops, automatically creates an account on roller.

We have it set up so to assign a specific URL for our blog module because our users requested blog.berkeley.edu as their URL pattern. This can be fixed quite easily to give it a URL pattern pertaining to your site.

It's not a simple module to use (i.e. drag and drop type deal), though, as it requires some knowledge of Tomcat and Java.

We're planning on releasing it in less than 30 days.

We need more testers though. There's way too many bugs to make a public release.

Is this project still in the works? demo/demo doesn't seem to work. I'm working on a new site for a club i'm in and this would be a helpful to generate some traffic and build the online community.

Would be nice to have a multi-user blog written in PHP and intergated directly into Xoops...
