where is $xoopsModuleConfig located

Sorry.... I don't understand the question in relation to this thread. That is a global variable set in index.php in the root directory of your XOOPS site. It is also set in other parts of the core and also by modules in many files. I cannot, therefore answer your question

The max size of file uploads to your site is controlled by either:

1. The max size-limit permitted by your server config. Ask your hosting company if you don't know what this is
2. The size limit that you specify within a given module.
3. Size limits that you set in preferences for core functions like avatars, image uploads to image manager, etc.

Can you be more specific about what you're trying to upload (image, zip-file, etc) and through which module?

Will help if we can

[Edit:
I see that you've added more info to your post whilst I was typing my reply ]

Preferences>User Info Settings

1. Enter emails that should not be used in user profile

xoops.org$|.cn$

The last bit stops registrations where the email address uses a .cn domain.

The works for me because there is no way that a legitimate user of my site would be from China. Might be a bit draconian for some, though.

2. I would also recommend setting "Allow users to change email address?" to "No". I had a problem where dubious accounts were being registered using dodgy domains and then setting their email address to fake addresses on otherwise bona-fide domains to hide their tracks.

Where in XOOPS can I increase upload file size that is allowed

Some modules (galleries, forums, etc) which allow users to upload files have their own settings which over-ride the global setting in the XOOPS core.

Worth knowing if it's a particular module that's troubling you

Thanks, this worked like a charm.

Glad you're sorted

Not quite my understanding (which could be wrong!).

My understanding is that the vast majority of modules take the settings in global.php. However, you can use the settings in the module's preferences (e.g. News, ExtCal) to over-ride the global settings if you like.

There are a few modules that don't either take the global settings or have settings in the module's preferences. In these few cases you will have to track down where the date format is set within the module's files (probably in the /language folder).

CBB 3.08 is the only module I personally know that uses locale.php but there may well be others (perhaps from DJ/phppp's own modules) that used Frameworks from the older XOOPS core.

PS. To anyone reading this the codes in the format string are PHP formatting characters.

Yep, and there's a helpful listing in global.php just above the settings themselves.

Good post..... we need to review these packs every so often.

I have thought for some time that xoopscare should ship with the core. Very underrated module which works seamlessly in the background keeping the site and database in good order.

Same folder..... global.php, lines 174 - 176:

define("_DATESTRING","d/m/Y H:i:s");
define("_MEDIUMDATESTRING","d/m/Y H:i");
define("_SHORTDATESTRING","d/m/Y");

global.php should alter system-wide formatting so go for this one first.

locale.php affects certain specific modules, e.g. cbb, and seems to be legacy file from frameworks when the 2.3.x branch was released.

Certain modules also allow you to set specific formats from within the modules preferences if you want something specifi for them. News and ExtCal spring to minf from my set-up.

No probs

If you decide to use liaise1.26 (which works perfectly with XOOPS 2.4.3) then download it from the brandycoke website.

PM me with your email address and I'll send you the edited admin/footer.php file so that the error advice message in admin doesn't appear. Like said, it's only an advisory message - just looks untidy

Probably a stupid question, but you haven't mentioned making the xoops_data folders on the server writable?

I'm a new XOOPS user. I uploaded and installed Liase 1.5.....

Welcome to XOOPS

I was under the impression that Liaise 1.5 was written specifically for the older (and now superceded) XOOPS 2.2.x branch and doesn't work properly with the 2.0.x, 2.3.x and 2.4.x branches?

There's a very lengthy thread on these forums about it

I use Liaise 1.26 - get it from here.

It needs a small edit to one file (PM me if you can't find it on here) to remove an admin panel warning (which doesn't affect functionality ) but seem to work well.

There is a v1.27 - google for it if you'd prefer.

Having said all that, I don't think your warning message about your xoops_lib folder is related to Liaise; you should get this anyway!

Seems to me that after you post an article in news 1.6.3 even if you remove the schedule date check box you still have to go to the admin and approve it for it to display on the front page, or it might be an editor issue.

Do you have the "Auto approve news stories without admin intervention?" set to "Yes" (module's preferences).

Articles will auto-approve if you have and your user-group has "approve" permissions in the both the "permissions" tab" and for the "topic" in the "Topic manager" tab.

Also, you need to make sure that the "Approve" check-box under "Options" on the new article submission form is checked.
