System Admin > Blocks

Select the module block you wish to show or create a custom block at the bottom.

The altern8 module isn't actively supported. You may want to try the News module from Hervet

You need to clone the default template set and select the new template set in your preferences. You can then edit modules templates on the fly.

Try updating the system module and then re-generate any needed templates and see what happens.
