How to contribute to the XOOPS project (UNDER CONSTRUCTION)

The XOOPS system is being developed as Free Software and Open Source Software under the GNU GPL Licence. This means that everyone is allowed to use the source code of the system, and alter itnto fit their needs and purposes. XOOPS is developed by a large community of people who value the object oriented approach and the high quality standards XOOPS stands for. XOOPS is made for everyone,nby everyone.

If you like XOOPS, feel free to contribute! There are many ways to help the advancement of XOOPS:

1. Join a XOOPS Team
You can help out by adding your skills and experience to the organised XOOPS Teams that keep the XOOPS Community running. There are 8 Teams, each working on a different aspect of the XOOPS community.nThey are (in no particular order):
- The Core Development Team
- The Module Development Team
- The Theme Design Team
- The Support Team
- The Documentation Team
- The Quality Control Team
- The Product Development Team and
- The Community Relations Team

To join a Team you'll have to submit a request with the respective Team Leader(s), with details about your skillsnand experience. Your application will then be reviewed by the Team Leader as soon as possible.

2. Submit your work
XOOPS is a flexible Content Management System, based on open standards such as PHP, CSS and XHTML, and open source solutions such as the MySQL database and the Smarty Template Engine. If you'venwritten an improvement on any part of the XOOPS code, or written a XOOPS Module, or even designed a Theme, we'd like you to share them with the community.

Submit a hack
Use hacks@xoops.org to submit any hacks, modifications and adjustments you've made to the XOOPS files to improve its performance, handling andngeneral workings, and would like to share with the rest of the community. Each submission will be reviewed by the development teams. If it adds enough value, we'll add it to the code. Please notenthat only carefully and meticulously documented hacks will be reviewed. Document every change, filename and line, and the reason of the changes. If your hack is approved, your name will be added tonthe XOOPS Contributors list.

Submit a module
Use modules@xoops.org to submit your module to the Official XOOPS Modules Repository. The Module Repository contains most (if not all) XOOPS modules,narranged by XOOPS version. If you have written a XOOPS module, you can add it to the repository so everyone can download and use it.
You can also apply for a XOOPS Module Certificate. This Certificate tells all XOOPS users and developers that your module meets the high quality standards XOOPS uses for its modules. Certification isndone by the Module Development Team and the Quality Control Team.

Submit a theme
Use themes@xoops.org to submit your theme to the Official XOOPS Themes Repository. The Themes Repository contains a large collection of themes for thenXOOPS system that users share with the community. If you have created a XOOPS theme, you can add it to the repository so everyone can download and use it.
You can also apply for a XOOPS Theme Certificate. The Certificate tells all XOOPS users and designers that your theme meets the high quality standards XOOPS uses for its themes. Certification is donenby the Theme Development Team and the Quality Control Team.

3. Become a XOOPS Partner
The XOOPS organisation is asking for contributions from corporate and private sponsors to maintain support and promote community efforts around the XOOPS Dynamic Web Content Management System. Fornthis, the XOOPS organisation has set up its Partner Program.

Friends of XOOPS
Private sponsors who contribute financial donations to the XOOPS organisation to show their support will be joining the Friends of XOOPS group. As a Friend of XOOPS, you will get a special Rank at thenxoops.org websites, showing you have a warm heart towards the XOOPS system and it's community.

International Official XOOPS Support Partners
XOOPS has a large international community, with Official Support websites in different languages, started, maintained and run by enthousiastic XOOPS-fans. These websites provide support for the XOOPSnsystem in your natural language, making it easier to understand and to maintain your website. The International Official XOOPS Support Partners also provide translations for the system, it'snmodules and documentation. These are very active communities who also develop and design new modules and themes.

XOOPS Development Partners
XOOPS Development Partners are people and organisations who develop modules for the XOOPS system. These modules extend the usability of the system and your website. XOOPS Development Partners releasentheir modules under the GPL licence and as Free Software.

XOOPS Design Partners
XOOPS Design Partners are people and organisations who design themes for the XOOPS system. These themes give the system and your website a unique look and feel. XOOPS Design Partners release theirnthemes under the GPL licence or a similar licence.

XOOPS Hosting Partners
XOOPS Hosting Partners provide quality hosting with XOOPS pre-installed and support.
