How do I know what a module does before installing it?
When a module is released, the developer will often post a link to a demo site along with his announcement. If the module is used on Xoops.org or a related site, you will be able to see it in action and try out its features.

So how do you know what module is being used on any page?

When you hover over menu links on a Xoops site, you will be able to see the link address in the status bar at the bottom of the page like this... https://xoops.org/modules/mylinks/

This address indicates the 'mylinks' module and it will open up if the menu is clicked. Remember, it is possible to change the name of a module in the menus so you need to view the status bar to really know what's happening.

This can be useful when visiting a site thats not in your native language as the module names will usually always be the same, regardless. Carrying on from this, its also possible to do a web search on Google to find a module

eg: search for xoops modules mylinks to return ummm, currently 208,000 results on google alone.

Once you have found some examples, you may also see several theme renditions of the module, giving a good idea of its functions and styles. Not all modules will be visible, especially if they are in a registered area of the site.
