Article Management System (AMS) 2.50 Final

After 5 month of development, NovaSmart Technology proudly announce Article Management System (AMS) 2.50 Final to be released to the public.

AMS 2.50 main target is to incorporate all "must have" features for modern article management module without sacrificing performance.

Whats New In AMS 2.50 Final:

With this release, user will have new experience in submitting and editing articles with 3 best wysiwyg editors (FCK Editor, TinyMCE and Koivi) and built-in xoops editor. User also now have ability to choose whatever editor they like straight from the edit/compose form without admin intervention. For admin, they have full right to enable this feature and even to choose which editor they want to be available to user.

User also able to add new spotlight template painlessly, can attach template preview image and given access to the template variable manipulation through php script attached with the template. Simply put the template, template script, preview image accordingly and update/install the module, everything will be auto detect and setup accordingly.

Please note, AMS 2.50 Final now 100% compatible with XOOPS 2.3 and some graphic had been refreshed.

This release considered stable and ready for production site.

Fresh Installation

1) Just unzip package and copy to your xoops folder
2) Click administrator->system admin->modules
3) Click on AMS icon to install

How To Upgrade

1)click administrator->system admin->modules->AMS update (for XOOPS, it is box with green dot)
2)do that one more time (must): click administrator->system admin->modules->AMS update (for XOOPS, it is box with green dot)
3)go to administrator->AMS->preference. If you already have XOOPS EDITOR and phpp Framework, just press submit without changing anything (it is a MUST to update the database).
4)If you don't have XOOPS EDITOR please change this:
EDITOR : change to DHTML
EDITOR CHOICES : select DHTML only
ENABLE EDITOR CHOICE TO USER : No (just for to be safe. Not really needed)
Then press submit.
5) Clear your_xoops/cache, your_xoops/templates_c and your_xoops/xoops_data/caches (Xoops 2.3.x only)

What Is AMS

AMS is a highly modified version of the News 1.2 for Xoops, and adds a huge amount of features to give the webmasters a lot more control over their content while still maintaining an easy to understand and use interface. AMS is highly scalable, and is geared towards performance, and as such is well suited to large article repositories that attract high amounts of users.

Another month, and another issue of the WOX (World of XOOPS) Newsletter (see here previous versions). We are glad that you enjoy reading this newsletter and we appreciate your feedback! 

Month of August was a very busy month for us - with new XOOPS 2.3 RC2 being released, and with work on the new Theme Gallery. But we also got great news with XOOPS being the finalist of Best PHP Open Source CMS. And we've got more modules and themes being released showing the creativity of the community, and we've seen more and more Websites around the world successfully utilizing XOOPS.

  • XOOPS 2.3 release is coming soon (hopefully in September). This is the release that XOOPS users have been waiting for, as it will finally merge the two branches 2.0.x and 2.2.x! There are also tons of improvements, for example:
    - the Admin themes are now modular
    - new Extended DHTML editor as default
    - new modules: Extended User Profile and Private Messages

    Check out the latest Release Candidate 2    .

    And please help us with testing and debugging, especially with the upgrade scripts, so we can make sure that there are no bugs in the final release    .

    In the meantime, we are still focusing on Marketing campaign preparation for the XOOPS 2.3 Release via a Competition for XOOPS 2.3 Marketing Materials. Check out the idea for our new Video promo - help us in making it a great one! 
     
  • XOOPS in Finals for Best PHP Open Source CMS!!!! Yes, XOOPS is on the roll - this is the second time this year that XOOPS got into finals of a major Open Source competition, the first being for "Best Open Source Project" on Source Forge Community Awards. X-Torrent is a complete torrent solution for Xoops 2.3, 2.2 & 2.0. There is a lot of potential in torrent sharing, this allows you a company, business, personal or educational institute to distribute data via torrents which is useful. Due to the large volume of difference between internet speeds in the world, torrents now consist of over 18% of broadband traffic. Torrents are becoming a commodity these day from small to large files.

Currently x-Torrent offers a large range of options, but we will be releasing a new version in around 6 months, if some spare time comes in we will be writing in more options and systems. x-Torrent is a module which offer full control of torrents in XOOPS, it will poll the torrents as well as download file information, seeds, leeches, trackers etc, of the torrent.

I will now work completely with PayPal integration and allows your end clients of your site, to charge for access and material by torrent services. This is useful for a wide range of commercial and business applications, from a MP3 house to a Movie Stand outlet, you can allow people to purchase any digital material via Torrent.

The announce appears from the file http://yoursite.com/modules/xtorrent/announce.php You can redirect this at the root with a .htaccess file to something that is shorter.
