Video Tube v1.81 Release Now Available

Video Tube v1.81 is an XOOPS module providing the ability to search, embed and manage videos on your site. Search, preview and auto-fill submission offered for YouTube, DailyMotion, MetaCafe and blip.tv plus a manual submission form for all other video services that offer video embedding.
This is a beta release intended to address some of the feature requests we have received. Some of the new features include full language support, html class attribute assignments and module style css, elimination of all hard-coded text moving everything to language files, addition of subcategories, complete rewrite of the category management admin interface, optional category selection display utilizing fieldset form with breadcrumb header, automatic comment reply title assignment using the video title, and changing several of the video table fields to text from varchar eliminating length restriction problems.
Be advised this release has only been tested with XOOPS 2.3.1.
We will be adding language translation files as we receive them.

Galician translation for XOOPS 2.3 is ready

The Galician translation of XOOPS 2.3.x, made by Eduar Garza (http://www.xeral.net/), is now available for download.

XOOPS mentioned as one of three CMS projects for 2009

Dave Porter in his 2009 Web Predictions mentions XOOPS as one of the three Open Source projects where web developers are moving to for running their Web sites:

First of all, we would like to wish you all a very happy and prosperous New Year 2009!!!!!

We have ended 2008 on a very exciting note - XOOPS China Won OSSContest Award, a very prestigious award of the Chinese software industry. This is definitely a great achievement for XOOPS China, and XOOPS in general, and all XOOPSers all over the world can be very proud of it!

Other highlights of the month:

XOOPS Innovation Award - for people who create something very unique and innovative for XOOPS. This time the award goes to Hong Kai Wu (tad) from XOOPS Taiwan for his work on various Tad-modules and his contributions to X School System !! Hong Kai Wu is also author of the "Easy Creation of Websites with XOOPS"
XOOPSer of the Month Award: is given to XOOPS members who show extraordinary dedication to XOOPS, and go the extra mile for XOOPS. This month we would like to recognize: Susheng Yang (ezsky), the Webmaster of XOOPS China Website. It's the Webmasters of XOOPS local support sites who make the difference for all the people who don't speak English, and is sometimes their only entry to the wonderful world of XOOPS.

XOOPS China Wins OSSContest Award

The XOOPS China team has won a prestigious award at the 2008 China Open Source Software Contest (OSSContest) in Beijing.

XOOPS China won the main award for excellence in creative application. The award will be accepted by Taiwen Jiang, the XOOPS Lead Developer and his team at the 2008 Open Source Software Development Summit, China. It is the latest recognition for the XOOPS China community website and project development.

The Summit will take place at the Xiyuan Hotel in Beijing, on Jan 13, 2009. Its steering committee is composed of China’s Ministry of Science and Technology (MOST), Ministry of Industry and Information Technology (MIIT), National High Tech R&D Program (863 Program) and China Software Industry Association (CSIA).

The conference and the OSSContest is organized by Co-Create Software League of CSIA and Chinese Association of Software Parks (CASP)of China Association for Science and Technology Industrial Parks (ChinaASTIP).

Zhanyuan Du, Vice Minister of the Ministry of Science and Technology, Chris Lin, SUN’s president for Great China, and Zhaozhu Liang, R&D Chief Officer of Intel Asia Pacific R&D, among others, will be the keynote speakers at the conference.

As the Chinese government plans to spend several billion of RMB on “core electronic components, high-end interchangeable chip, and fundamental software products” in 2009, open source software projects face new opportunities in China.

XOOPS China is delighted to be recognized in the contest and is committed to continued excellence and support for XOOPS and Open Source. This award is also a tribute to the dedication of many people from around the world who have contributed to the XOOPS Project.

XOOPS Time Capsule

Well some of you may already do this with your development in creating a time capsule. This is one for XOOPS that will be sealed at the 1st of march.

The dimension of the cylinder is as so

360mm(h) x 145mm(d)

It is water proof and will be placed in a remote location away from any nuclear targets and is good for a millennium as the plastics in the container.

Should you wish as a member of our community to contribute, I would suggest you mail me a flash disk, or mail me a sealed letter. Your contribution will not be logged nor will the flash discs be recorded, it will be simply added to the chamber of all goodies for the XOOPS time capsule.

I think we should do one of these each year around different parts of the world, who know we could exist elsewhere beyond our reaches as foresight see it.

Types of items accepted:

* any xoops related digital media (flash disc).
* letter in envelope
* NO HDDS

eXtGallery 1.0.5 is out

Zoullou has just released a new version of eXtGallery. From his Website:

After few month without news about eXtGallery I release the 1.0.5 version of the module. They are few bug fix and very cool new feature like Online module update and a JavaScript slideshow for block and album. You could find below complete changelog.

This version works only on XOOPS 2.3

In the package, you could find added lang variable on the changelog file. Test the module, make language pack for your country and send it to me, I will add it on SourceForge to allow all your country user easy find language pack for this module.
