XOOPS 2.4.0 RC Is Released
After over 25,000 downloads of XOOPS 2.3.3 in just five months, the #1 CMS System hosted on SourceForge, is getting closer to the next major release. The XOOPS Development Team is pleased to announce the release of XOOPS 2.4.0 Release Candidate.
This release includes many bugfixes and user experience improvements, done by XOOPS Core Development Team and XOOPS community. Some of the major improvements include:
* a new Admin GUI (Voltan)
* new mechanism to modularize and extend Core via Preloads (trabis)
* central support for jQuery (trabis)
* improved Installer (DuGris)
* WCAG 2.0 - Sight Impaired Assisted Forms (wishcraft)
* Themeable Admininstration area (trabis)
* new WYSIWYG Editors: wymeditor, Xinha, and Spaw2 (wishcraft)
and many more.
New in Release Candidate (in addition to bug fixes):

- Removed soap authentication and classes(trabis)
- Removed extra databases support (trabis)
They will be revisited for the next release.

after a couple of months working on my site I am glad to announce that it is now live and is proudly powered by Xoops.
PlaySome is a PlayStation 3 website offering news and information on games, hardware, release dates, videos, screenshots and pretty much anything to do with PS3.
The theme of the site is a modified version of the default xoops theme, I have also used the xoRewriteModules hack, I have used a fair amount of modules also, my main modules are:
Article 2.00RC - alot of template modifications to make it more cleaner and leaner looking, removed alot of uneeded stuff.
Wordbook - for the cheats module, this was cloned/renamed so it would have URL like cheatID= also done a bit of template modification on that.
Planet module
MyDownloads module - some basic template mods
xcGal - some minor template mods
VideoTube
TadGallery
TadNews
I also have some custom static modules made using the 'dummy' module.
I hope you like what ive done, please give me any feedback you can so I can try and make it better.

Indexscan 1.0 has now been released.
Indexscan scans your webfolders to see if you have folders without index files. Should it find a folder without index.html, index.htm, index.php or index.php3 it prints out the location and you can then descide weather to manually place a new or use the automatic create link and automaticly create index.html files in all folders that are missing.
The tool is only accessable through admin in your site.

We are very proud to announce the release of the XOOPS module Xurl version 1.2.
Changes in this version:
- QRCode! With every shortened URL created you will get a QRCode for that URL. Use it in print, videos, T-shirts, etc.. More on QRCode here.
- Some styling and languages (translation) fixes
- One new QR-block added. This block will create a QRCode for everypage that the user visits. This is a simple and great way for them to store the page that is of interest to them on their e.g. mobile phone. (please read bottom note on this)
- Security issue solved
- Users that have created shortened URLs can now visit the Xurl page and call the URL manager to manage their URLs and see some statistics.
- http://2lk.nl is used on our website. If you like to use this shortservice as well, just register to our website and start using 2lk.nl shortcuts. Its free!
