Due to the big inquire the last days, we now release the first Betaversion 0.1 of the osCommerce Module for Xoops 2.

This Version is not for productiv Site`s just for further developing.

Installation is just easy as an normal Module using the Xoops Admin CP.

Knowing Bugs:

Bestsellerblock runs not proper
Search Block runs not proper
Tell a Friend Block runs not proper

Modul Tell a Friend runs not proper

Fantastic work guys!

Now won't XOOPS be the envy of all the other CMS's out there who have been trying to get this into a working module.

The oscommerce comunity contributions will work with the XOOPS module?

If the answer is no, very please in future versions add the oscommerce "afiliatte system" contribution.
Is a must have feature for every e-commerce software.

I don't see why they wouldn't work but it would need a little coding, the affiliat requires extra DB tables, and a few core changes, I wouldn't recommend this unless you have experiance with coding.

I downloaded the Affiliat Program from osCommerce and will maybe later, then the module is stable for productive working, chance it as an addon for the osCommerce Module.

it seems to be impossible to log on 'shop' even though i have already logged on 'xoops'. in short, so-called 'auto log-on' are needed...please!

Well, this is the Beta 0.1, the first try, so for further developing every reported Bug and every feature request will help developing a stable and usefull Module for the XOOPS Community

Thx, but this honor goes to Koudanshi he integrated the phpbb and ibf to XOOPS 2, is a great work and i use it myself on several site`s.

As Predator said this is a new beta release, and is still being tested, I've been helping out with bug reporting and finding solutions to the bugs.

This product/module will only improve with every ones help, so sign up, report bugs, make feature requests, this is something every one can do, even if you don't code, help make the ultimate Shop module for Xoops, this not only helps you but every one here on xoops.

Some questions I have about these porting.
How would one keep up with the upstream development?
How easy is it to upgrade when there is a new version of oscommerce or phpbb released?

OSC won't be ready for production for a while, but is ready for beta testing, I know Predator is working for quality here, so I don't feel the need to rush this imho, and he's doing some wicked work.

Now PHPBB has been out for a while and is developed by a different person from another site, I've documented in this forum a number of times, I would stay with Newbb as the PHPBB makes changed to the core of XOOPS which makes it hard to upgrade when new versions of XOOPS are release, but if you still want PHPBB go to the following site.

I think it really depends on what your goals are. OSC and XOOPS makes for an interesting environment to merge commerce and community. If you're not interested in community features. Then it may not make sense.

Personally I want to see the project come along a little ways before I get to deep into it. But the idea of making use of the OSC api and integrating that into custom xoop modules gets me excited.
