The downloads and links modules on CVS have the new notification feature implemented.

Weblinks module :

Global
- Notify me when any new link is posted.
- Notify me when any new link is submitted (awaiting approval).
- Notify me when a new link category is created.

Category
- Notify me when a new link is posted to the current category.
- Notify me when a new link is submitted (awaiting approval) to the current category.
- Bookmark this item (no notification).

Link
- Notify me when a new comment is posted for this item.
- Bookmark this item (no notification).

Downloads module :

Global
- Notify me when a new file category is created.
- Notify me when any new file is submitted (awaiting approval).
- Notify me when any new file is posted.

Category
- Notify me when a new file is submitted (awaiting approval) to the current category.
- Notify me when a new file is posted to the current category.
- Bookmark this item (no notification).

File
- Notify me when a new comment is posted for this item.
- Bookmark this item (no notification).

that's a great news.

i saw a similar system on a french site but there was another option which is a very good feature i think.

that's a a daily report which gives all the activity of the web site.

news

new members
keywords used in the search engine
number of hits
birthdays
etc....

I tried the newest available CVS because I like this feature for downloads. But some files are missing, e.g. notification.inc.php in include directory and some mail templates.

Thanks! This is all fixed now.

Also, for the record, several new (admin-only)events are now supported:

mylinks:
- notify of broken link report submitted
- notify of link modification request submitted

mydownloads:
- notify of broken file report submitted
- notify of file modification request submitted

I installed 2.0.2 on top of 1.3.10 and for some reason the notification block does not show for Web Links. Any clues why?

Notifications are enabled for Web Links in the admin section.

Which theme are you using? I've seen a problem before where someone theme files for links and downloads did not contain the line "{include file=db:notification_select.html}".

I am using the default theme, and the mylink_index.html template does have the include you mention (with sigle quotes around the file name).

It is not a template issue because I do have a clean installation of XOOPS and there the notification block does show up. It seems to be related to the upgrade.

Did you do an "update" of the mylinks and downloads module to make sure the templates are compiled to the cache directory? Might be necessary.

Also, I assume you know this but just in case... notifications only show up for logged in users. Anonymous users will not see the notification section.

I did an 'update' and the notification block showed up, pure magic. I assumed that the install/upgrade script would do that, but it looks like I was wrong.
