Now that XOOPS 2.4.5 has been released, the focus is now on XOOPS 2.5.0, with ForMuss and Trabis leading this effort. You can check for latest changes in our SourceForge SVN

And since they are working on it as we speak, this is also a great opportunity to report bugs to our Bug Tracker, and most importantly to help us resolve these bugs.

Therefore this is an official call for help in hunting bugs and solving them: the XOOPS Bug Hunting Week

Please use our Bug Tracker, and use these very simple guidelines on how to report a bug

Please also review existing bugs in our Bug Tracker and help us in resolving them.

And if you have any patches or useful hacks, please let us know as well.

The individual who resolves or assists in resolving the most issues will win a XOOPS T-Shirt!

I agree it is vital for Xoops users to report bugs, but surely it is the responsibility of the core team to fix them?

There are 97 open reports in the tracker. The focus should be on resolving those issues first, not adding new ones to the list.

And then there are the wanted features list of 240 items. Some date of 2004, but when I read them, I think: Yeah, could use that too!

Maybe organising a contest for a top 10, that then will asap be implemented?
Eg: everybody may give 10 points to any ID number from the list.
Use your 10 points to favour some items in any combination.
Eg idx 10 points;
or idx 5 points, idy 3 points and idz 2 points;
etc.

What do you mean with official?

Formuss is doing awsome job in merging 2.4.5 with 2.5.0 alpha2. Only when the merge is finished we can start fixing the bugs on tracker (if they still apply). This "Hunting" call could wait for a beta release.

You can't treat Xoops 2.5 as a bug-fix upgrade, it has completely different dependencies.

There will be no bug fixes for 2.4.x (exception for security)

Bug fixes will go on 2.5. Support for php4 will no longer be provided.

Nice communication between the devs and Mamba! Not!!
If no bugfixes, apart from security issues, for 2.4.5 are being done, then why should bugs be reported concerning 2.4.5.?

Again, this topic makes it all again unclear. Which isn't good for Xoops. I suggest you first put your heads together before posting something of which de developers don't know anything about.
More clarrification is needed.

@ Balzac,

it only looks confusing on the surface

2.5.0 has the same core as 2.4.5 - so any bug existing in 2.4.5 will be also in 2.5.0.

Except for security updates, we're not touching 2.4.5 anymore. But we still want to know about any bugs, so we can fix them in 2.5.0.

I hope, it makes now sense...
