Looks good
Perhaps you could share your work with the News module's developers so that it could be incorporated into future releases. Much better than having to apply hacks and "in the spirit of open source". It would make it easier for users too

I don't think frontpage slider will be free because it is based on non-free script, but we can support others.

like someone else said, this should be inserted in the news module as an option for displaying news. as right now we are limited to only 2 options.

This script is fully Processed and integrated in the news module, and file slider.js can be taken and any freeware slider script. Design is a realy by your free will.
Genuine frontpage slide show is designed for the featured articles, and in this case only determined the category of news that will be displayed. In my case all blocks are automated, and yours is just to add a new article in news module. So, from now on is not named frontpage slide show, but dacappo slider ;)

If the slider is a free script, all is good, design is not the issue ...
In which news version you added it ? is it php4 compatible (the last version is php5 only)

if this slide show is not free you can use this it's totally free and creat a legal module for XOOPS and for the payable slide maybe some users can use it too :

I don't know how to integrate it in xoops.. but I think there's an info file in its download package

This hack is for Joomla - Drupal - Wordpress - vBullettin only.... this tread is about implementing this hack into the news module for xoops....

Yes, one of these hacks based on frontpageslideshow which design for joomla, mambo, drupal and wordpress. this componenet have admin panel working as mastop_go2 module but using differnet mootools.

So you either contact frontpageslideshow.net to convert this script to XOOPS legally or improve mastop_go2 with the same mootools that using in frontpageslideshow which is free to download.

It works as mastop_go2 module exactly, it is not working with news module only. you can upload any image and add link to any page inside/outside your site.
I will release news slider module based on mastop_go2 and have frontpageslideshow look.

trabis is working on something similar with the next version of mytabs - version 2.2 (not yet release but coming soon)

the cool thing is we can fetch from various module such as news, smartsection etc..
