Thanks. Drag your screen to the right and the overlap will disappear. The real problem is stopping that from ever happening. I'm working on that problem... I feel soooooo dumb.

I'm working on the width problem. I have managed to fix the body container to 800px. This keeps the middle blocks to a good size; I also have the body size at 1000px (so the entire bottom remains fixed at that size). However because min-width is not inherited I can't seem to keep the entire screen from being driven to 0px. Additional ideas are welcomed!
As for the missing nav bar, can you send me an image? I am not clear what you are seeing.

also the font size doesnt work on the content text.

The nav bar is only a decorative border. The only item to appear there is the font resizer.
For me the font resize works for all content (on FireFox and IE 7 the only two browsers I have available to test with...) Are you using a different browser? btw. my CSS validation is against CSS 2.1. Opacity does not appear until that version.

the basic layout is kinda similar to mine. it uses a large background image and left aligned. but i dont know how to do opacity lol
