Hacks: LDAP Support Beta is out!

Hi,
I've finally released first beta release of LDAP support. You can download it with same link:

I've decided to create new thread, because I want to seperate alpha discussions and beta discussions.

Onokazu, again it didn't work, but I found a workaraound. I know it makes a security hole, we should fix it later.

I put most ldap codes on ldap.php file. We need to discuss about security, code optimisitation things.

The comments are owned by the author. We aren't responsible for their content.

Cool

The only thing missing is to say what's actually been changed like we do in the changlog of xoops.

Telling ppl to upload n overwrite may be ok for some, but prolly not for others who also made custom changes. So a text file saying what was added, where, is a must IMO.

I agree with you. But this is currently beta. So ppl should use this code as for only testing purposes. Ppl should use as production, when we launch RC or when we integrate with original code.

First of all I need beta testers. So we need to test with different LDAP servers. In our company we use Netscape on Solaris LDAP servers. I tested, it works. But how about other (Win2K etc) LDAP servers.

Next step: I should document code as you mentioned.

Further step: Maybe we can integrate with core functions.

Alternate step: If we can do, we can release this as a different module or class, whatever. So if someone needs LDAP, he will install and use LDAP. If someone doesn't need LDAP, than does nothing.

I've been using LDAP support 0.10 beta in our web server without any problem. But I disabled a feature for security reasons:
Users cannot change their LDAP user setting. To do this just restore original /edituser.php file.

I'll fix this one in beta 0.11

I need beta testers. If someone wants to test but has no LDAP server, then they can edit ldap.php file and uncomment lines 182 or lines 184. If you uncomment line 182 than every login attempt to LDAP server will be successful. If you uncomment line 184, login attempt will be failed.

You can do same with register_ldap_user function.

I've released 0.11 version of LDAP support. You can d/l with same link as usual :)
With version 0.11, users can't change (for security reasons) or see their LDAP status and XOOPS will not send lost passwords to LDAP users.

I still need beta testers (at least one :) )

I run both XOOPS and exoops sites, will this mod work on exoops as well, if not, has anyone found a work around for exoops.

This hack was written specifially for XOOPS RC 3.0.4 (or 1.3.4). I didn't try with another version of XOOPS or e-xoops, but I don't think it will work with other versions of XOOPS, or any version of e-xoops, because this kind of hacks are very dependent to core and every change in core overwrites this hacks. But if you can wait there sould be LDAP support in XOOPS v2.1. I don't have any idea what's current status of LDAP support, but developers says LDAP will be in core in v2.1.
