I'm proud to announce the release of LDAP Authentication hack for XOOPS 2.0*, 2.2*.

Xoops Authentication Hack

New features
- Automatic Xoops Account provisioning. If the authentication is ok, the system synchronise automaticaly account infos from LDAP to XOOPS Database with XOOPS Group assignation

- Additional Custom LDAP Filter

- Code refactor

Test on XOOPS 2.0.13.2 and XOOPS 2.2.3 with OpenLDAP 2.2 and Windows 2003 Server

Important

This is the last release for Xoops2.2* series to follow the XOOPS Team recommendation.
This hack will be include in the 2.3 Core with additional features.

I'd like to see this look at the REMOTE_USER header to check if the user has already been verified by the webserver (eg Integrated Auth is turned on in IIS, or equivalent in Apache) and use that to transparently authenticate the user.

Can you be more precise ?
What you need is a SSO system and a webserver, AFAIK, can't resolve that.
I plann to integrate SSO functionnality in XOOPS with, for example, CAS(Central Authentication Service) Server.

Sorry, I meant that the auth would happen at webserver level (SSO) and then XOOPS would then sync the authenticated user (identified by the REMOTE_USER variable) with the ldap database.

In my case, I've got apache on linux transparently authenticating people against AD and would like XOOPS to honour the authenticated username.

If thats any clearer?

Can you clarify pls - what the new module does is that if the user does not have a XOOPS account, but has an LDAP/AD account, then XOOPS will automatically create a user account on XOOPS for them when they attempt to login to xoops?

OK,

It's the HTTP authentication.
It's Apache that control the credential in the LDAP Server.

It's a good idea and if you want to contribute to this point, we can work together.

One point : This is not a SSO System

I'll see if I can get some time to work on the SSO side of things, then leverage the authentication handler to sync the userdata with whatever datastore (if any) is in use.

i have tested this hack in xoops2.0 and XOOPS 2.2, but i failed. I don’t think I set it up correctly, however, XOOPS couldn’t authenticate users added in ldap.

works brilliantly. I have a new feature I would like to see as an option:

In the same way that it creates the user in XOOOPS, could it be configurable to also create the users group from an LDAP setting? I'm is the process of setting up a Wiki for seveal hundred users and this would probably be a help.

Yes it's in reflexion for the next version.

Can you send me by mail or PM a description of your group configuration (LDIF export, LDAP config, ...).
This can help me for testing.

Not sure if I'm missing something here in the new version... but here is what I have so far.
uncommented the ldap extension in php.ini both in the main directory and /ext dir...(two different instructions said two different things)
I copied the two .dll files to the system32 directory. I restarted the server and I'm still getting the ldap extensions not found. I ran the old version fine... is there something additional needed for the new version? I'm using XOOPS 2.0.X

ok well once again a fresh install of apache fixed the problem... now I am getting can't read "username" bla bla bla. I guess I'm one step in the right direction :) troubleshooting time

The auth hack works great for my intranet site. The only issue is that it creates the account, but does not create the corresponding active directory e-mail address. It leaves that blank. Am I missing something?

Guys, congrats.. thiis is really a good help...

but i got a quick question.. (hope someone answer it)..

after filling-up all the LDAP fields in authentication method..
i always have the error
"USER roger-Resource id #44
not found in the directory server (=roger)
(ldap authentication method)"

*i think the XOOPS config can't find the User Attribute?
hope anyone can help..

what else do i miss?
